The "invalid configuration information - please run setup program." message appears for a bunch of reasons...the date not being set, the HDD not being present, no optical drive, a different amount of system memory....and others, usually in a BIOS UNlocked laptop, after a minute or two pause, processing, it then puts a message about hitting the F2 key to Enter Setup and fix/adjust/account for the issue.

If you have a Grey Screen BIOS passworded D830, you will NOT be able to paperclip it away as is described in all of the guides. As much as we would all love it, the D830 is a very much newer model, it does NOT have a shortable chip (That any of us have yet discovered)...it is NOT a supported model for paper-clip shorting method.

Good Luck...
Thank you for your reply..
but.. I made a mistake, my laptop is a Dell Latitude d820. His biosprogram is blocked and I always get the gray/black screen with the option to fill in the master bios password.
How about that one? Is it possible to shortcut it's bioschip with the paperclip method?
The latitude.exe program generated for me a password, but it didn't worked.
Where can I get that password?
Is there someone who can help me?
My service tag number is: BRMKS2J-595B

??

Well that's against our board rules here

I fully respect your rules, I didn't mean to seem like I don't. Trust me, I would rather not spend any more money on this laptop(paperweight) than I already have. Its just that I've seen others with problems similar to mine that have been helped on this forum. Which brings me to my next question: Does Rustam_ still help people like myself on this board?

Thanks

HP Omnibook 4150

Hi all, I have an old HP Omnibook 4150 with a locked bios. The hash code is 08685 I am hoping someone out there might be able to tell me the bios password. Thanks in advance.
Peter

old BIOS_PW didn't work, as expected

I downloaded, unzipped, and tried the BIOS_PW.exe and as stated in the readme.txt file, it did not work. The 1997 date of this utility is simply too old to work, but it was a fun ;) exercise.

Now I still have a HP ze4600 with a bad hard drive and a locked BIOS. The friend I'm fixing it for bought it from a cousin who bought it from a friend. You can't make that up. :haha:

Kimsland has been most helpful, now it is HPGL's turn.

Hey HPGL, here is your opportunity to prove to everyone that you help us folks trying to fix HP laptops. This is your time to shine! :)

The HP's hash is: 05867 Let's see you do your magic. Otherwise, I'm going with Kimsland's suspicions regarding your viability on this forum.

I am sorry that I am so "suspicious" it is my downfall :( I am trying to change.
At least I am half-way there by at least recognizing this issue

I would also like hpgl to come on and help, preferably by giving me more information as well. hpgl has always stayed patient with all my attacks and accusations, I respect that at least.

Yes HPGL please help.. there is many information for dell but not for HP Laptop...
Please tell us how you can generate the hash code.... my omnibook hash code is
10578

Thank you very much

I have a HP Pavilion ze4906us laptop. When I start it up, it asks for
a BIOS Password. I have never had one before.
After typing in 3 anonymous passwords, I get this Hash Code: 04997
Can someone please help me find the password for this code?
Thank you so much.

Dell Inspiron 1501

Hi,

I have inherited a Inspiron 1501 laptop from a coworker. Unfortunately they do not know the password to logon to windows. I figured I would use a pw cd to try and crack it but I cannot boot of the cd. The bios is also locked with a pw. So I can't go in the bios to make sure the cd is set to boot from.

Is there a master pw for the Dell bios? (phoenix bios) I have tried bios, phoenix, cmos, dell but all fail.

Pls help!

Dell password

Hi newbie here pleazzzze help.
Dell 1520 Inspiron Gray screen asking for password. This number appears: FBCKC3J-595B Can anyone help unlock this. I think it may be a conflict in hardware that caused it but not sure. Can't boot to anything. Can anyone generate a code for this?

Still locked out...

Hey Joe2Shoe, those did not work either. Where did you get those from; BIOS_PW.exe? If so, I have already tired running that several times. It is interesting that each time I run it and use the same hash code of 05867, each time I get a different list of possible passwords. Now I'm new to this, but it would seem to me that the hash breaks down to the same passwords otherwise it seems to be a random password generator, no? Again, I'm new to this so I really don't know how it should work. I have a Linux based app that cracks NT based passwords by looking at the NT hash and it comes up with the same password every time, it is not random, I thought a good HP hash cracker would do the same.

I am not offering, endorsing, or recommending the NT password cracker, I only mentioned it for the purpose of comparing how it works. BTW it is also freeware.

amg
gighy
amilge
antirl
