Ide to sata converter

i bought the converter to make it sata and when i connect the wires and stuff its not recognized i have tried everything that was posted earlier about something similair but havent found anyone that has tried the converter. i already have 2 sata drives and bougth this ide hard drive and couldnt use it as ide cause i have 2 cd drives and wanted to convert it to sata so i bought the converter but it doesnt get recognized at all by windows i have 2 more sata ports open so i know i can use it any help would be appreciated thanx
