Hi Grace and welcome to TechSpot!Hi! I have a similar problem, slightly. I have an Inspiron that I've had for over a year, and my webcam has always worked for me, my primary use being Skype. When I signed on to skype a few days ago, I was notified that my webcam can not be detected, and isn't being detected by my computer as a whole. I've followed this post and ran the check on the system. Would you mind checking out the report?
Is there possibly an on/off switch for the webcam? Make sure it's on
Also look through all pages of your BIOS setup menu on the off chance it might be an option that can be disabled (if you see it, make sure it's enabled) Then
1. List any Problem Devices
- Make sure devices are connected and powered on
- Click Start->Run, enter: msinfo32. Click the + sign next to Components to expand it
- Click Problem Devices. Anything appear?
- If yes, click on it, Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-C to copy it, Ctrl-V to paste into next post
- On the other hand, if no devices are listed, tell me so
