Intel Core i7-13700K Review: Ryzen 7 7700X Versus

Thinking that the CPU is the heart of your system is so flaws.

You buy the best mobo & Socket... and over time update & upgrade as you see fit. Buying an outdated mobo (no matter how good the CPU is) is a wasting money. It means you have to buy another new mobo and CPU and rip your whole rig apart in the future... just to upgrade the CPU.

LGA17 & AM4 are both dead platforms. There is a reason Intel is coming out with a new Socket in 7 months to compete with AM5...
'There is a reason Intel is coming out with a new Socket in 7 months to compete with AM5..'

I'm pretty sure Intel is already competing with AM5.

Do you really think the LGA1700 competes with AM5...?

I have on my AM5 mobo:
2 x PCIe 5.0 x16 slot
1 x PCIe 4.0 x1 slot

2 x M.2 (PCIe 5.0 x4)
2 x M.2 (PCIe 4.0 x4)
Riser card
1 x M.2 (PCIe 5.0 x4)

1 x USB 3.2 Gen2x2 header
6 x SATA 6GB/s

And on the backplate:
2 x USB4
9 x USB 3.2 Gen 2
1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2x2

THAT^ is why iNTEL is coming out with a new platform, because zen5 on AM5 will destroy everything.

Apparently we aren't reading the same reviews including the ones on this site.

Oh and btw ...

I don't know what you are saying here but AM5 has much better connectivity than LGA1700. There is not even question about that because you simply cannot disagree with raw numbers.

It's not anything new that review sites "forget" about connectivity because they cannot see that in benchmarks when using single SSD etc.

Really, how many LGA1700 reviews did you read...?

No matter what, buying a 13th gen iNTEL cpu means you are wasting money and getting inferior product. Honestly, what does it matter if iNTEL CPU are within 10% of AMD's right now.... when you can not drop a 14k read/write SSDs into your brand new machine and get the SAM/Direct Drive advantage...

Next year, current AM5 owners can buy a new CPU and sell their current ones to recoup some of the cost. SO essentially Enthusiasts can upgrade to a zen5 8800X3d CPU for $250'ish bucks... and drop it in.

Why do you people like throwing your money away...?

I remember reading on this site...

For pure gaming, the 13700K and 7700X are neck and neck. If you do a bit of productivity work as well as gaming, then the Core i7-13700K is the better all rounder. The 13700K will use more power and run a little hotter while gaming, but neither should be an issue.

The Ryzen 7700x on the other hand, is more expensive when factoring in platform costs, but it's also on what is arguably a better platform with at least two future Ryzen generations supported, so your investment should provide a better upgrade path.
