and actually for gaming a duel core is the best unless u have lots of programs running in the back ground.

i run two-three instances of the same game at once, 3 different accounts, 3 different characters so they can work together......most everyone that plays that game does it. i alt tab between them and do different things. and id like to run itunes in the background if possible

i have this problem with my graphics card which is a ATI9200 and everytime i go to a certain spot it says that VPU recoverer has reset my graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphics driver commands, then it goes on to say please tell ATI Technologies about this, what should i do? im sick of it minimizing my game to tell me this.

Hmm, in that case a quad-core CPU will be best suited for you. And as for the problem with your card, are you running Catalyst 5.6?

I meant the ATI Catalyst display drivers. Version 5.6 is the latest supported for your card. USe Driver Cleaner Pro (Google for it) to remove all traces of your current drivers and then try downloading and installing the 5.6 drivers from ATI's website or from Guru3D.com and see if it helps.

thank you very much, what do i have ATI, AT CCC, ATI Hydravision, ATI IGP, ATI MMP, ATI Remote Wonder, ATI TV Wonder, ATI Uninstall Utility or ATI WDM?......now that you know that i prob need a quad core processor what should i look for in a motherboard?

it said i need to have a minimum of 2.0 NET framework for the dwnload and it was version 6.11 too? idk, also says to try ans setup my display adapter with a standard vga driver b4 running setup

Look at the chipset. I'd recommend the P43 or the P45 chipsets for best results. Also, look at the features. Many P45 chipsets come with two PCI-E slots, designed for two ATI cards to be used together in Crossfire. If you don't think you'll ever need to do that, then go for one with a single PCI-E slot. ASUS and Gigabyte are the top companies I'd recommend. The ASUS P5Q and the Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L are great non-Crossfire mobos. The P5Q Pro and the GA-EP45-DS3R are the Crossfire versions of the same boards.

theres something wrong with the graphics on my comp its acting wierd like when i scroll down on a web page now it like wipes the screen clear for a sec and then brings in the new screen like one of those old projectors that only show pictures

see what makes me mad is that this game worked fine lastnight and now its telling me it cant run it because i have 0 free MB space of video memory and it requires 32MB or something. i did the cleaner thing on my graphics card but i cant seem to run the catalyst properly, i explained in previous threads, im kinda stuck

You need to reboot in safe mode and run Driver Cleaner Pro, then reboot again into Windows normally and install the Catalyst drivers, then reboot one last time for those to install properly.

im sorry could you specify how to do all of this in detail, sorry but i dont even know what "safe mode" is, and you say to run drive cleaner pro but what am i to select to clean?

it tells me my direct3d is not working and i need to reinstall directx but i tried and it wouldnt let me install it again because it says theres already a version of it working on my comp

TechSpot here as a pretty good guide, its a little out of date (June 08) but gets you going in the right direction. Also, you don't have to buy monitor right away if you have one that will work. You can buy that later, same with speakers, keyboard or mouse, if you have one that will work for now. Then you can hunt for a good deal on a monitor, speakers, ect.

With the computer I would recommend buying the parts close to the same time, especial if there are mail-in rebates. You want to get a change to assemble everything and make sure it works before you have to cut out the UPC for the mail-in rebates(all the mail-in rebates I have seen off of NewEgg have required that). After you cut of that UPC, you most likely will not be able to return it, even if the part is malfunctioning.

For finding good deals, sign up for NewEggs news letter thing. They give you promo codes to get free shipping or for some money off the product. That's how I got free shipping on my case (usually $15-$30), and $10 off my graphics card, even after it was discount $20. Also check out NewEgg's daily deals.

Right Click Your Mouse Three Times and Say, I wish I was in Safe Mode, I Wish I Was i

ty.
does anyone know how to reboot in safe mode like this guy was saying?
But seriously, try this. Keep Pressing F-8 just after the BIOS screens pass. Select "safe mode" from the displayed list of options presented on a text screen, using the arrow and enter keys.
