Laptop extremely slow

  1. I have a dell Inspiron 6000 that "used to be" pretty quick. However, it now is very slow. Everything it does takes a long time, from startup to running programs. I will attach a hijack this file.

I know that there is probably a lot of junk I should get rid of or turn off.

I am also using AVG antivirus. My computer used to scan in about 1 hour, now it can take 4-5 hours to scan. Should I get rid of AVG and use something else?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Uninstall your AVG Antivirus
    Then run the removal tool

    Here is the 64Bit version:

Run Startup Control Panel and remove any not required startups: (should be most!)

Install Avira free AntiVirus, and run a full scan

    All done
