Laptop wont start uo after systum recovery

Hello i just recedntly run my recovery cd on my friends laptop cuz we have the same laptops (gateway) but after it was done it told me to restart it and when i did it just went to a black screen. and so i turned it back on and then i tried to start windows noramlly and it woudnt work it told me

"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
/WINDOWS/sytem32/config/SYSTEM
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows setup using the original Setup CD-Rom.
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair." then it told me that



Pls help what should i do its not my computer and i need to fix it

That's like saying we switched engines 'cause we have the same car (GM).

Anyway, do what is suggested, repair using the disk and 'R'. Follow the guide from Compaq ( http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/siteHomeC?lc=en&cc=us ).

that didnt help at all unfortunatly cuz i dont have a compaq computer its a gateway can any1 else help me?

LOLK - mental fart - the POINT was to follow the instructions for your comp that cover repair installation of the OS - they have them, they reference them, go find them.
