Hi, I am assembling a new PC with the following material:

Processor: AMD Sempron 2600+
Mobo: Asus K8S-MX
Mem: 512 Mb
Hard Drive: Hitachi IDE 80Gb
Optical Drive: Samsung CDRW

The motherboard seems to detect the HD in the bios, but when i start to install Win XP, after pressing the ENTER key to proceed with installation, the computer hangs on. I tried to install Windows in this disk using another computer and when i installed the HD in this one again i had an blue screen with that said something about an HD configuration error.
:( Don't know what to do now, i'm thinking to change the IDE HD by a SATA one.

Welcome to TechSpot

It does sound like you are having HDD trouble.
I recommend tryin a disk util from Hitachi.
You might wanna try putting Hdd in another
system and do a low level format (writing zero's).
it may be able to find & lock out any bad sectors
on the drive.
I'm runnin a WD 80g Sata drive as my primary
drive and it works great!
Though make sure you have SATA drivers
(for your MoBo) on a floppy, when you
first boot from cdrom to install windows
right away you'll be asked to press f6
to load third party scsi drivers. then follow
instructions on screen.
G'Luck!!
