My book es 500gb not working

I have had the My book es for about 1 year now and it died just the other day. I have tried the recovery software i have nothing i don't really need anything on it i just want it working again. I plug it into any computer and all it does is install the drivers for the My book es and not anything else. i see nothing in my computer and the computer management console it does not show the drive for me to format so is there anyway that i might be able to format it at all. So is there any other way in which i can format it.

It may be dead, but try this. Disconnect it from your computer, go to control panel, addremove, and uninstall anything related. It may be under myBook or WD. Restart your computer, connect the drive, and do not install any software that came with it. If you can see the HD, open it and delete everything in it. This usaully solves the problem.
