New CPU wont work

Hey. This is me first post whey hey!
anyway..

Ive got a mobo make: ASUSTek computer inc
model: puffer
version 1.xx

It has a INTEL 3.8 ghz 1mb L2 cpu in it and i got a new INTEL 3.0 ghz 4mb dual core cpu just to make vista an programs run a bit better, but when i put it in today the pc beeped as normal but none of the fans started or the monitor. Would it be that its just not compatible with my motherboard or do i have other problems?

The orginal 3.8 cpu is one of those hyper thread 2 logical processor type ones

well if any could help or have any suggestions it would be cool

Look at the manual, or the online ASUS manual for that board, to assure that the parameters will allow that cpu... or what needs to be done to enable it, if allowed.
Usually, you must have a board specifically designed for Dual Core processors to do what you want.

If you say none of the fans work, you could also have a power issue.
