New DVD Burner Crashing System?

I just recently purcahsed the new Sony DRU-810 DVD burner, as my old CD burner died. Installed it and started Win XP, auto found it and installed drivers, then put in the Software CD for nero. About halfway through, my PC powered off. Didn't restart, no blue screen, just power off.

I removed all PCI cards except my graphics card. Same thing.
Switched the burner to Slave and used the Slave cable. Same thing.
Defragged. Scandisk. Same thing.
Tried to play starcraft. Same thing.
Haven't even tried burning or using a DVD movie, just reading CDs, and the computer shuts down. Starting to think the motherboard is shutting down due to overheating? But before when playing games like half-life, my computer never shuts itself down from overheating. Any ideas? Please?

Update

i left my computer on overnight, when i woke up, it was off.
I'm guessing it's not the drive then.
I powered back on, and when i was surfing the web this morning, it crashed again.

Any help?

Fixed

New True Blue 2.0 Antec 480 watt power supply, computer is running even smoother than it was before my problems. Didn't know they made such a difference.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Glad you got your problem sorted.

Sorry no-one answered your posts earlier.

A good psu makes all the difference, because it`s really the engine room of the computer.

Too many computer problems are caused by cheap underpowered unstable psu`s
