No power

I had a power surge this morning and now no power to the computer at all. Do you think the power supply is shot or the motherboard?

Most likely the power supply went, if it was on at the time... and your motherboard is OK... depends on the type of power surge, duration. Motherboards are seldom affected... but use a very strong light to look for blue or brown streaks on the board...
Use the sniff test after you remove the power supply...

Consider first any power cable that has extra plugs between you and the wall... as well as telephone and ethernet lines... They could be ruined, and the power could have followed them into places inside the computer. If so, the computer has been ruined..

Power will leap from point to point as it seeks the most direct way to get to ground.

We retrieved 56 computers from lightning damage in Southern Arizona during the summer lightning strikes... The biggest problems were created by low voltage lightning that had no flash as it traveled through various wires.
