Last night, i just received my new RAM in the mail, and i decided to wipe the computer and start anew w/ the new upgrade. So i formatted the hard drive and installed XP Home again, and everything went smoothly. Then i went to power options to set my standby settings, and the drop down menus for Standby weren't there. Then i went into shut down to see if it was there, the options available to me were Shut down and Restart, the Standby button was there, except it was opaque, so i couldn't press it. I then installed SP2 along with all the drivers that came with my computer, then shut it down. I havven't started it again, i just wanted to see if anyone here has any ideas of what i can do.

You need to Install your Systems mainboard Drivers

so if you have a Cd that came with your motherboard or your pc install the drivers from there. if not then you go tho PC or Mainboards Maunfacturers website and download and install the Chipset drivers.
