noob with freezing/crashing problem. needs advice. thanks :)

hello.. this seems like a very helpfull forum, with knowledgable people!!

my problem is that my pc keeps freezing.. usually when i run Cubase SX3. but other times aswell.. it will just freeze up.. ie mouse does not move etc.. and i have to turn off and then on via the switch..

i was getting this same problem for over a year. but i formatted all my hard drive and re installed XP. after this the problem was solved, my pc did not freeze or crash for about 3 months, and i was using heavily..

but, now the problem is back, the last 3 weeks i have been getting nightmares from this!!

i would really appreciate advice, thanks.. if i have missed any important details, please let me know..

Hopefully nothing more than software conflicts, likely drivers.

Right click on my computer, then select "manage" then "event viewer" and search in there for some error reports, especially the red ones.

If you can't find anything in there, next I'd test your ram. www.memtest.org let the test run for 6 or 7 passes (takes a few hours).
