Problem Adding New Mem

Okay so you have tried both sticks in each of the colours. The orange ones look look the best option. We can leave that part there. Have you cleaned out the slots? While SWITCHING OFF at the mains but leaving the plug in the socket (to ground) and using a brush and holding a hoover to get any crap out.

yep, I know its good because my 2x 512mbs have worked in the 2 orange slots for a while now prior to buying these 2x 1gbs

when adding new memory always remember to clear the CMOS just change the cmos jumper press power button twice change the jumper back and the coms will read the system again feel free to email me at gdparkinson@gmail.com if you need to know how to change jumper.. also try a flashing your bios but make sure you have a UPS on your machine before doing so..

just when I thought this whole mystery was nearing an unfortunate inconclusive end, something kinda weird happened this morning. When I went to start up my comp regularly with the 1x 1gb g.skill stick installed, like I have done for the past few days, it wouldn't pass the bios screen and just kept restarting just like it did when I tried to put 2x the 1gb sticks in. For some reason now my comp is giving me trouble with just the one stick, even though I know it's worked. The only way im on a working comp now is because I put my 2x 512s in and they worked. Don't know if that changes anything, but hopefully it pushes the troubleshooting towards a more specific problem?
