Running in SLI

hell no. you don't need a SLI certified psu. that's just a marketing gimmick. that SLI stamp of approval is bull. you just have to know that it will provide tons of power, and be efficient while doing it. hence the reason for that unofficial list you posted. all the power supplies in that second and first tier will definitely do that job.

hey man, theres a huge advantage, no matter what card you use with SLI, as long as its a sli capable card, heres why:
1. Its exactly like a dual core processor, you get to split the work loads between 2 processors, which mean less time, and better graphics, since you have 2 cards rather than one really good card.
2. gotta make sure your Power supply is SLI Certified(Should say on the side, cause if it isn't, then you can just kiss SLI goodbye till you get one, it wont work or it will blow your PSU. ) but, good part is, if you do get SLI, your cards will be able to pump out a lot more than if you got say, just one decent/good card.

A lot of misinformation floating around in this thread. First off, SLI doesn't give you double the performance of a single card, which sucks IMO. And second, it only shows the large performance improvements you expect it to produce at very high resolutions such as 1920x1200 and the like, which would need a monitor big enough to support such resolutions. Add in the fact that two graphics cards suck more power and produce more heat than one, and SLI seems like a total turn-off. And it is nothing like a dual-core CPU, since it doesn't help you multi-task, unless that involves running an HD video while playing a game like FEAR at the same time. Lastly, the SLI-certified PSU thingy is just bull**** for the most part, since a good-quality PSU like one from the Enermax Liberty series that is not SLI-certified will easily be able to power an 8600GTS\8800GT SLI rig.

Ok well I think makes make my mind up. So its not worth it to run two cards in SLI. Then I will wait till next spring and see if the 8800GT comes down in price any. Even if it doesn't I will most likely upgrade to that sometime around then.
