I have three hard drives that were running ok but after having to re-install windows I now have only 2 of my 3 drives showing and my other drive showing as a partition now.The drive I had showing before re-install is a 500gb western digital. When I do click on the drives it says disk is not formatted and would I like to.
I dont want tro have to format it because I know it containd data I need, can anyone help?
My drives read as
c:/ operating system 120gb
d:/ partitioned with f 250gb
e:/ cant access 500gb
f:/ other part of d drive
g:/ cant access
h:/ dvd drive

I did not have the 500gb drive partitoned when it was running before

You didn't mention it but did you reinstall the SATA/RAID controller drivers, motherboard chipset drivers, etc. after reinstalling Windows? BTW, which Windows?

sorry i didn't mention my system is windows xp i have installed all the motherboard drivers and sata drivers also installed the service packs 1 and 2

you could try 3rd party disk manager to try and take possession of drive
I don't think thats the problem
try installing in another machine if you get the same thing
it is corrupt
format and get data recovery software
do not write to drive after format
