Sata problem

ive installed a new western digital 80gig hd in a dell dimension 8400 bios regocnizes the hd, ive went to dells website and downloaded the drivers for my windows xp install ,i get error messages during install that wont let me install windows on the drive what am i doing wrong?

If your installation disk has XP prior to SERPak 2 it won't recognize the SATA disk so as to Format and partition it. Try using the software from WD from a Bootable CD or USB and prepare the disk before running ZP install.
