So you only have PCI slots and want to game?

My FX5500 has more bandwidth then any of my other PCI cards, just wanted to show everyone.

Anyone know if the Albatron 8600GT was released? I see the Sparkle 8500GT on the internet but it is always sold out here in America. PCI is wretched compared to PCI-e 2.0 which I want to build into my new PC, but I can't pay that much right now, so Albatron 8600GT fits the bill since I want to play older games anyways. Problem is that this card vaporized from the public eye.

Here is some updated photos, enjoy!

The Albatron cards from what i have reading has been release in japan/etc, but in the United States , nope. We might not see them until a year from now. My advice, like you said buy the 8500GT and be happy. :)

I will do that soon myself, but i am buying the HISX1550 for testing for something.

Thx for update General/Legendary. Maybe someone will pop up selling these on the internet, I would order one from Japan if I could but I don't see a vendor. If everyone would request the Albatron 8600GT from Newegg, this would go a long way. See my previous posts for the link. Everyone should invest in a Sparkle 8500GT until then I believe.

The lastest photo is actually here, dated 8/29/2008

The 8400GS.

btw, i sent a email to them, and Robert is not in charge anymore with the US market, he said he sent the info to some woman name Cathy, so maybe when she gets back to me, they can hurry up and release the cards over here in the US.

I might have a change to see do they sell them this weekend tho at this computer show, going out of state, will report back if any news when i get back late sunday. :)

well...im not sure if the 9400 will be compatible but it is said to be a replacement for the 8600gt, at the low end market. The performance is supposed to be twice as much for ≈ the same price...

I think you are thinking of PCI-e connectivity slots and this entire thread is about the PCI interface.

Also guys, why dont you use the GPU-Z utility and post the specifications of your card... that would really improve this already magnificent thread, dont you think...? .Plus its easy just run the utility and press the little cam icon in the upper right corener and it offers you to save to a file or upload it to a file host then you just post it in here either the link or the picture. Or you coul just use the last tab called "Validation" and press submit then just paste the Validation Code in a post.

its very simple and that would help all of us and other people looking for information.

just my 2 cents.

oh XD, i thought 8000+ series cards were all PCE-e. But isnt the 7950 and 7950x2 better than the 8500gt?

To PCI users, this is irrelevant because there is no 7950GT or 7950 GX2 for PCI. For the PCI-e slot type however, yes both of those cards are better than the 8500GT for PCI-e.

On a different note, it is good to see jives11 posting again as his posts were always informative in the past. I am looking at setting up some fans in my case for better cooling as that slot fan you posted a while back isn't viable for me with 3 PCI slots (2 for a single GPU & 1 for sound card). 2 fans for intake and 2 fans for exhaust should be the most economical solution, now if only knew where to place them, that will require further research.

Teklord - you're too kind. My results above show how much the 8500GT can be overclocked. My previous card, the 6200 had very little scope for OC whereas the 8500 seems huge by comparison. I'll re-run the tests, I've just got back from a holiday in the US and I see there are new nVidia drivers and a new version of speedfan.

While in LA I wandered around the Manhattan Beach Frys but didn't see any new PCI cards. 10 years ago I remember that a pilgrimage to Frys was always a special experience but now the internet has changed that and pretty much everything is available everywhere, 8500GT excepted of course ;-)

Tha General

Does you on-board sound appear in device manager, sound, video and game controllers.

Any red x there. If could be there just uninstall it if you use it still.

I had to disable the thing, because if i didn't, it will keep appearing in device manager, then disappearing, everything is always greyed out tho, so something happen when i put in that 8400 card. It seem to have just wipe out my onboard sound, so i just use sound cards now. I tried installing, uninstalling, installing drivers, reinstalling windows, etc, nothing still grey out and it won't come back, so i just disable it.

Anyways, Albatron finally added the 8400GS

Everyone request the 8600 GT from Newegg at this link

I contacted Albatron again and they stated I have to contact the individual vendor to obtain an 8600GT PCI. Newegg is on their list of vendors on their website, so again I advise we all contact Newegg at the link I am providing and request the 8600GT PCI because this is the only way we will ever get one. I don't mean to double post this, but merely to keep this fresh in everyone's mind as this is the cutting edge of PCI technology and I want to make sure we get our chance with this card. Here again is the link to the Newegg request page and the email I was replied with.

Request the 8600GT PCI here

Albatron just seems lazy or something. I already request the 8 series cards over at newegg, but they seem lazy too. I will find another way to obtain the card sometime next month.

I sent newegg a request for the PCI8600GT. I guess every little bit helps.

thanks direwolf. I was intending to post this link on every board I could find, I may go over to some of the boards Legendary,Tha General is on and post it there. This is the only way we'll see this card here in the US. I see the Sparkle 8500GT PCI on about 10 or so different websites in the US, so if it can happen for that card, eventually it can happen for the Albatron PCI series. :grinthumb

Well see thats what i was told about the Visiontek2400, and thats what i thought, but using the beta 8.9 drivers , the 2400 is working better then ever, i can my older games much better.

Now with the 8400GS, it played Crysis better, but that was about it. My 6200 OC ran circles around the 8400GS in terms of overall performance. I don't believe any of these PCI cards is held back because of my computer, i think its a driver issue.

There was about 6 older titles 1999-2004 pc games that was choppy as hell using the 2400HD, but again using the 8.9 those games work just fine, getting around 60-92 fps. I think with the 8400GS card, either the PSU required was too strong = 300 or the card is actually weaker then the 2400 and 6200.

The 2400 PSU requirement is 270
The 6200 - 250

Maybe under 300watts is my limit. And maybe you are right now, because there are a few other folks who bought the 8400GS PCI and they can play Bioshock and other games with ease. So yea maybe you are right. Maybe the 8400GS is just one of those cards which i can't use. who knows. I am buying the 8500GT next tho and see how it does.

Tha General, there is a pretty high probability of every one of those cards, on average, being CPU bound on your machine.

If you have access to a speedier computer somewhere, try the cards over there.

My FX5500 and BFG OC 6200 and 2400HD runs great on my computer. I only had problems with 2 cards for my computer ever, first it was the 2400, but the 8.9 beta drivers fix alot of those issues. And the 8400GS , well that took out my onboard sound and my guess it may be have been too powerful for my rig.

I don't have the 8400GS anymore, i took it back 3 days after buying it and testing it.

I am using the 2400 which works good, stays cool( 34c - 45c, ) and i am buying the 8500GT real soon.
