In a nutshell: Tiny11 builds of Windows 10 and Windows 11 are already known for their extremely compact size. Power users can now use the latest version to create even smaller, more streamlined images, thanks to a newly introduced feature that removes AI-related bloatware from Windows.

Tiny11 developer NTDev has emerged from obscurity to announce a new version of the Tiny11 builder script. The tool is designed to create a "streamlined" Windows 11 installation image by removing various pieces of bloatware and unwanted apps that Microsoft has been bundling with the OS for years.

According to NTDev, the latest builder version simplifies the creation process and introduces the ability to remove some of the newest Windows additions, including the Copilot chatbot, the new Outlook client, and Teams.

The release also addresses previous issues with mounting / unmounting the Registry that affected earlier builds. Tiny11 has always aimed to make Windows 11 more compact, and the updated script improves on this by using Microsoft's "Recovery" Lzx compression instead of the older Fast (Xpress) method. NTDev notes, however, that the new compression requires more time and significantly more RAM.

Copilot, Outlook, and Teams have now joined a growing list of bloatware that the Tiny11 builder can strip from a Windows 11 installation image. The list primarily targets UWP apps, but also includes Edge and Xbox. The Xbox Identity Provider service remains intact, so the feature can be restored later if desired.

The Tiny11 builder has been rewritten as a PowerShell script, offering far more flexibility and power than the previous Batch-based version. Thanks to PowerShell, the latest script can reportedly support any Windows 11 release, in any language, and on any processor architecture. The package does not require any external tools except for oscdimg.exe, Microsoft's official utility for creating bootable Windows PE ISO images.

NTDev confirmed that the new Tiny11 builder has been tested on Windows 11 24H2, 25H2, and Canary Build 27934, ensuring broad compatibility under normal conditions. Additionally, a "Tiny11 Core Builder" version exists for creating a Windows image with only the bare minimum needed for testing environments, although the developer cautions that the "core" script is not intended for typical power users seeking to remove bloatware from Windows 11.

When Windows 10 ran out on my laptops I went to Linux Mint, I really cant be arsed dealing with MS anymore unless I have no choice. Things like this Tiny11 speak volumes about the state of Windows these days that people would put this much effort into making such a thing. MS could have done this, Made a mini install version, But I guess you can't run telemetry and ads that way.

I installed Mint, Made the pointer bigger, Installed a few apps and that was it. Much easier :)

Ever hear of Proton bud? WINE? Dosbox?

The majority of Windows games can be run on Linux, and for those oldie titles, it can be easier to emulate it then to get it to boot at all on 11.

Or you just maintain old hardware like me. I still have an XP machine for some old childhood titles. But that's more of a hobby, they all run on 11 and linux today.

Can Windows 11 do that ? If you got a bunch of games from the mid to late 90's would they really all just run without issue ? I don't really play but I am fairly sure you would have problems.

Installed and played Recoil 1999 fine, only thing I needed was glide, so more of a hardware… nvidia issue.

P.S. Also took a glance on other old titles back from my school times, and had no problems with SoF 2, Deus Ex and FEAR. Though maybe the last 2 were remastered cuz those are steam titles. Fallout 1 was definitely remastered, more so for running under linux I guess, so I don't mention it

Biggest downside of Tiny11 is Windows Update disable and if it enable some of the bloat will reinstall. Fine to run a test system/vm but useless to run a daily OS.

you really do not need windows update. every update they break something more... I have a xp machine that is used fairly regularly and haven't had a single issue with it. I work for one of the largest hospital systems in the country and most of our supply and secondary machines run windows xp embedded. Pick a stable windows version and disable updates. Dont browse the internet without an adblocker and install software from unknown sources and you will be fine without a single update.

Sounds good.

1. Disables W11 montly new crash patches.
2. It can't make W11 any slower and irritating as a base line. Removing the massive bloat is bound to make it quicker.

But MS won't like this. They will lose many MBs of telemetry - for every install.
Even the most casual of users (sadly unlikely to use Tiny 11) will be shocked. Hey, my PC feels fast! Plus it lets me get on with stuff instead of nagging.

Simply if W11 removed the infuriating sludge slow down bloat It would probably be 80% smaller, and we may well find there is a decent core OS there. As it is the OS part of W11 can only function at a fraction of what it could if it were not riddled with astounding amounts of bloat. Plus the bloat really is bloat, as in junk and gunk that no one asked for.
