Hello. I read over link590o's thread, and he was able to get an impressive list of parts for pretty much under 600$...Now, I'm not saying I would be able to even think about building this (whether or not I'll still be working from now to August is still uncertain), but I was wondering...What kind of system could you build for around 450-500$(Cost of Windows XP Home SP2 (100$ on Newegg) already deducted)? Again, since this is tentative, I could have a second job and be able to get some of these parts, and possibly raise the amount I can spend...Any and all suggestions are appreciated...

You could start with a barebones system from Newegg:
Motherboard, case and power supply for 1 price. Add CPU, CPU heatsink & fan, memory, hard drive and a CD/DVD burner

Pick a Card, Any Card........

This type of thread sometimes works out a bit better if you take the time to outline something you might like to have, and let us help you refine it. Try it. The more research you do yourself, the more prepared you'll be when you do make your first build.

How about, Intel E4400 C2D Allendale.
Gigabyte P-33 or P-35 Motherboard.
Seagate "Barracuda" 160 to 250GB HDD
Pioneer DVR115 DVD burner

That should give you something to think about to start.
