I've made a live Demo shows you everything for v5.0 it's now available

Also some tips when you install everything go under Users folder and run the clean folder.cmd that will remove prior images and junk that will be removed making the loading of new themes quicker. Only need to run that when you change the theme if you want better performance

Now I have stumbled across this freeware program for those who want to view web pages on the MediaMVP even though that MVP will display HTML pages you can save them as jpeg also. Web Screen Capture. You can run a batch file for it to grab web site pages to use with MVP quick.

Only the main media menu images from prior release v5.00. This can be use with v5.15 Standard and Thumbnail packages. So if you don't like the the main media menu in v5.15 you can use this image patch instead for only the Main Menu.

Instructions
Download the prior post first then install either standard or thumbnails first. Then download MediaMenu package and install.

Note
The prior newer installer/uninstaller that was used in 5.00 has been dropped I've gone back to what I was using before for setup. The above post also have this installer that I am now using.

New! SevenMCE Theme/Mod has some neat changes in store. I've taken a different approach. Streamline the package will load much faster and use far less system resources and space The above is the Island Theme. Yes there going to be a couple of themes based on Windows 7 MCE included when this package is finally finished. I am getting very close to that. Just some more minor tweaking then I'll be done.

Default SevenMCE which is based on the what you see in Windows 7 default theme as some perks on the main screen. I trying to workout before I'll the cat out of the bag.

Anything you want can animated on the main or any of the theme/mod if you want. The weather map above is animating. You can read daily comics, have your favorite pet or family or newborn displayed on the main or have local traffic cam showing the current conditions.

DVI to HDMI issues

I have 50inch pioneer PDP-5071 plasma...I have a Dell Opti Plex 745 that I am using as the pc.

The PC is connected DVI to HDMI....the picture comes in but is about half the screen size. The video card is a Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3000, and the computer is compact so I am not even sure I can replace it, but it is a decent card.

Outside buying a new computer....what are my options here, any?

Desperately trying to eliminate cable!!!!

Don't use DVI to HDMI instead use VGA to VGA on the HDTV if you have that option. One the image will be better and you can max out the image depending on your PC and HDTV. You don't want to set these two to the max as you'll have issues. I use VGA to VGA on my Sharp 46" 1080P LCD HDTV with my ATI Express-PCI on the laptop. I only have about 32MB shared out for Video I could go higher but that's a waste of RAM for that purpose unless your playing computer games then use more RAM.

Unless your PC had HDMI output that would be the another move but if you have VGA again the better to use that as your HDTV was design more to use PC VGA to VGA. But if you don't have VGA then you have to stick with DVI at 1024x768 or greater if you can do it. Intel onboard graphics isn't like ATI and Nvidia.

hey tipster, ran across this thread some time back, decided to start putting a htpc together. I currently have a 4850 and 8 gb of ddr 2, a good power supply. I'm wanting to record 2 shows at the same time. While being able to browse the internet. Is this possible? Can you give me suggestions on an OS and software I'd need for blue ray ripping to my hard drives for easy playback.

Software: Sagetv for recording and viewing on the HTPC or to your HDTV or TV.
Server OS ED 2003 RD works best for HTPC
Client OS XP SP3 comes in a close second for HTPC
Get a dual Hauppauge HVR-1800 PCI-E do you have extra PCI-E slot?
Really don't want to record and surf the internet, well you could do it with the setup you have. But issues with audio/video sync might show up in the recording or not.

I idea world is to have a system built for each task. So that's what I did. Built systems for my needs. HTPC I use records 3 different shows at the same time. Did try 4 at the same time but some times the 4th had audio/sync problems. Now with Dual cards you can use two on PCI-E bus instead of PCI bus.
 
ATTENTION MediaMVP Owners!

As of April 1st 2009, due the bad news from the guys over at FileFront who has been hosting all my files for MediaMVP have announced they'll be closing shop on March 30th 2009. So now I'll be hosting my files only Tipster Network Tweaks 2009, Build 600 and 800 and Media Changer 2009 Web Tool for MediaMVP will be hosted by me.

All other tools current like Tipstir Network Tools 2009 will be hosted. So if you want to now is the best time to download prior builds and themes. Because when they're gone that's it. I am only focusing on Build 600, 800 and MediaChanger 2009. Media Changer software will replace all builds soon as it will be the main theme customize so multi-mediamvp themes can be created through it.

Hi Tipster,

I've been looking into how to build a digital, HD, HTPC. I've got some questions and misunderstandings I hope you can clear up.

Objective:
Build a HTPC that can
1) Record Video
2) Playback Video, Online Streaming, and Images
3) Supports full HD Audio

Questions:
- With HDMI 1.3 supporting both audio & video, is there a way to skip a PC sound card and use a dedicated audio receiver? Ie. Under the assumption the digital cable box has HDMI output, SPLIT the HDMI into two cables, one running to the audio receiever and one into the computer.
- Say your running a motherboard with the 790GX chipset motherboard that decodes HD content and has built in graphics; How do you output what you want to play to a HDTV? I see motherboards and cards with one HDMI port. If this is the input which there must be, wheres the output???

A review for the Asus Xonar sound card went like this:
" I had to run HDMI into my videocard, then a DVI (from geforce 260) to the audio card's HDMI input, then the audio card's HDMI output to the Yamaha receiver, then HDMI from the Yamaha receiver to the television. "

Is this standard? Is this how its done? Would DVI output from the graphics card carry the audio to the sound card?

Im hoping you can answer some of these questions and provide me a direction on how to setup a HD HTPC.

Your building HD HTPC.. So you can get HD off your Coax then? If not then you would need to do it off STB. You'll need HD Tuners Cards PCI-E are faster. There is dual HD tuner versions. Check out Hauppauge web site for those. These tuners should last you 4 years before failing. The case need to be cooled 24/7. Once tuner cards start recording they generate a lot of heat. HDD TB for HDTV Recording another TB for Archiving. Dual Core or Dual Quad Core min 4GB of RAM.

This PC won't be use for playing games or surfing the web. Just recording and playback.I use SageTV for Recording and SageTV Web Server to manage recordings. Can be done remotely also.
