Weekend Open Forum: What's the story behind your username?

I was mostly a lurker, Lurker is too common a word and so needed some numbers behind it and I had just started playing Fallout 3 at the time.

I will spare every one the boredom of hearing my life story.

Abducted and forced to work in the sex trade industry as a fluffer for midget adult movies you ran away and joined a barber shop quartet. Unfortunately all the singers became tone deaf through a horrible cotton candy allergic reaction you became a carny on the spot and traveled the country until you met the love of your life working in a Louisville transgender bar. Your username comes from a real estate business card stuck to the wall above the urinal in that bar. How close was I, I'm guessing like 90%?

No offense to the OP but if memory serves me correct, this topic was covered in the past ??? years. Anyhow, my user name is obvious, I'm still learning my pc. "learninmypc" :)

I was thejoker@tesco.com because of the gotham evil character but when yahoo started mail service for free we all migrate form tesco to yahoo and thejoker was taken, as im cuban domain was cu.

Simple - my longest running computer was a Asus ROG Commando LGA 775 - it ran for 5 years non stop until the power supply gave up - replaced that and it ran another 2 years until the E8400 cpu (overclocked 30%) finally quit. It was both a gaming machine and my internet surfer.

Robert Johnson is an alias that I used a few years back while I was playing on a second account in an MMO. Robert or Bob as everyone called him had a pretty fleshed out backstory. Part of that was that he used to be a QA tester. I decided to use Bob the Tester here, because I originally came here to test a theory (which I won't get into) about websites and was using TS to test that theory (no, there was no hacking involved).

Don't ask me to explain the rooster.

Mine is just a variant of my pen name, which is CS Jeffrey. When I started writing for TechSpot Julio said I couldn't use CS as my first name, so I went with Cal, which is a nickname that got passed to me by my grandfather's friends – he was Cal; I was Little Cal. He passed away and I'm not little anymore, so many of my close friends just call me Cal now.

CoD4 was BBgun, from Joe cartoon , 10 pump bbgun was to long when joined a clan and admin status. Good days " you been killed by a BBgun ". In world of warships I took MQ1hunter, did not realize this was a drone name. It was, & far as I am concerned still is the best compound bow Matthews Archery ever made. Best bow I ever shot!

I was 18 years old at the time and I needed an account for ebay I believe. Dr Dre's song "Forgot About Dr Dre" was popular and eminem says "Jibberish" in one verse. So I put two together Jibberish-18. Its stuck every since then.

Always fascinated by people who take their nickname from words they can't spell.... You do know it's gibberish, right?

Mine comes from when I was winning gold medals in Cribbage.... Squid Surprise = the 5 honour points you receive for having a King of the opposite suit (but same colour) as a cut 6....

When I was a teenager I thought combining the 'gib' from Unreal Tournament and other such FPS games ("Ludicrous gibs!") with star, like porn star would be funny. I can't remember why I added the second 'g' in there, but it's there. Funny how you think you're so clever/funny when you're a teenager...

This was sitting on a shelf above the computer on a day when I was finding it hard to find an unused username on a random website. Unsurprisingly it was untaken :)

Killlakillpromo.jpg

user name is taken from an article of clothing that features in a Japanese anime "Kill la Kill". Ryuko Matoi while looking for her fathers killer finds a sentient sailor uniform that she names Senketsu, a Kamui (神衣, lit. "Godrobe") which is completely made of Life Fibers and transforms her so that she can face evil Student Council head Satsuki Kiryuin and her associates. Then there is also the rebel group 'Nudist Beach'.
Senketsu translates literally to 'fresh blood' which the garment needs to transform. There is a lot of wordplay going on here which as a non-Japanese I only understand part of. If this sounds crazy, there is a nice Wikipedia article that explains it.

P51d007
p51d = North American Aviation P51D Mustang
007 = Original James Bond

My favorite WW2 aircraft, and favorite movie series (the old ones from the 60's-70's.

In my younger days, I was a jewel thief. Eventually I got caught, and while in jail some guys nicknamed me "robbin' hood", because I told them I steal from the rich and give to the poor (hookers). It stuck, and for a user name I changed it to hood + part of my jail number.

I came up with mllllnmmn man in late 90s when we were close to a new millennium and I was fond of superwrite in highschool witch is writing without vowels however no one has Ever had a clue mllllnmmn is millennium man

Most people think my username is based off of the band of a familiar spelling but nope, it's just something I randomly made up prior to anyone telling me they even existed.

My username MUMMZ is actually a real life nickname I got from my friends some 12-13 years ago when I was still in high school. In Durban-Indian slang, generally guys will call other guys mum/MUMMZ/mamu in a respectful kinda way. I think this originates from the fact that in the hindustani culture, the brother of ur mum (your uncle) is called "mama". So, for a laugh, I used to call a lot of my mates in school mum which ironically earned me the very same nickname lol
