Where did my IPOD Go?

Well, all of a sudden iTunes and my computer do not recognize my IPOD. After much exhuastive reading I have half-way have figured that recently installing Microsoft Service pack 2 has screwed my up. I have tried changing the drive letter but that did not help either. Any suggestions? I have tried re-installing iTunes,. Ipod updater and am just about to the point of reinstalling windows and starting over again. I can't even get the F8 to agree on the windows install to work. HELP HELP HELP

Same thing happen to my Usb connection to my phone, one day while on my comp it just dissapeared. So i had to reinstall my phones software, and reinstall the phones usb drivers. And boom it now showes up!

Thanks Howard, but still no go

I tried the reset, on/off procedure but still no go. I will look into a firewire card, is it alot of $$$$$$ ?
