Will GeForce GTX 260 maxcore run on my PC?

hi,
My graphics card recently died on me and so i decided to purchase the geforce gtx260 maxcore.
After plugging it into the coreect slot and turning on my PC , my monitor remains blank,and the cards fan starts and stops about every 2 seconds or so.
the PC is a Packard bell Iextreme x9610
IS the card compatible with this computer?

any help would be apprieciated

Did you plug in the external power connectors on the card to the power supply? Does your power supply meet the recommended requirements of the card?

yes the power connectors are plugged in.maybe the next step then is to try a more powerful power supply?

Did you disable the onboard vga in the bios?
What was your last video card?
Are there any beeps when you turn of the pc?

ive not had a chance to disable bios , my last card died and not been able to use since,
last card was a nvidia gf 9600gs
no beeps at all
