Hi

I have recently installed windows 98se onto my computer and now everytime i startup windows i get an error message with Tapisrv.exe. but the system seems to work correctly apart from this error.

How can i fix this problem?

Thanks.............. :blackeye:

tapisrv is the Telephony driver. If you've installed modem drivers, or some form of telephone dialler software, this may be causing the error.

If you can get online, I assume you're either using an ethernet or usb network/modem to get online, or that tapisrv is restarting properly

What is the exact error message? It'll give us more to work off.

there is a 56k internal modem installed in the computer

hope this helps

Thanks:grinthumb

Hrm. Would the modem be a Conexant/Rockwell WinModem (HCF or HSF) by any chance? This seems very familiar to me, from when I was using a EuroTek (no, I'd never heard of them either) WinModem that had terrible terrible Windows 98 compatibility issues.

hi yea i think the modem is a connextant HCF modem this is prob the cause of the problem.

what is the best solution? buy another modem?

Thanks for the help

Its not nessacerily the cause of the problem

But it is a possible. Its presumably the only telephony device on the computer.

Take the modem out and boot up, and see are the errors still there.

After removing the modem and uninstalling the drivers the same errors occured.

Any suggestions?

Wierd Tapisrv.exe problem

I'm running Win98SE and I just started getting a "Tapisrv.exe has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down, etc." error. When I click details, it says: "TAPISRV caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 0177:bff7b997.

The wierd thing is, it also prevents windows explorer from working, including putting Icons on the desktop. The only reason I'm able to use the computer at all is because I just happened to have a copy of Tapisrv.exe on a different drive. I have tried to rename the old file and copy the file that works into the C:\windows\system directory, but every time I reboot it still gives me the same error. I then have to FIND>tapisrv.exe, and then doubleclick on the good one. This situation must end.

Does anyone know what I should to do?

Thanks,

Fishzilla
