Microsoft really is directionless and has no idea what to do about Windows, do they?
In the last 2 weeks, we get 2 articles about how Microsoft recognizes that Windows is a broken mess and are rethinking it, and also planning to ditch web-based frameworks and go full native.
Then, as these news bring us a glimmer of hope for Windows' future, we get... this. Based on the previous articles, It'd make more sense to expect something like Windows engineers planning to ditch the settings app entirely and go back to the control panel. It would be the sane thing to do after all.
The settings app can be improved, but it will never be as practical and easy to use as the control panel. I also doubt they'll manage to import every single setting and tweak from all control panel applets to the settings app. Something somewhere will always be missing.
I also wonder what will happen to legacy software that install their own control panel applets.
