brought a new radeon 5450 but that wouldnt load windows

Not sure wht you mean by this please explain, was there a problem with the driver?.

Do you have onboard graphics, if so remove the graphics card and run from the onboard to see if the problem persists, or put your old card back in (if it still works) and again see if you have the same problem.

Windows xp services pk3 freezzing

dont think i have an onboard graphics card, have tried takeing out the ram but no joy have tried stopping some of the start up items but still the same issue it just seems to be every time i go to internet explore it stops working and i have to switch of the whole comp as cant do anything at all have uninstalled my avg to c if that helped grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr nope have been told it could be my ram thats gone but i have no idea any help would be great folks have been trying to sort this out for 2 days now, would it be the bios ?????

OK, lets check that internet explore does not have any Malware attached to it, as you cannot use internet explorer you will have to do this on another PC to make an anti virus boot disc. All the instructions are included on this page.

I think if it was your RAM it would freeze during the use of other applications, not just IE.

When you reinstalled Windows did you do a full format or just run the Repair install. If you did a full format then don't bother with the above suggestion as the format will have wiped any Malware from the system. Instead, take a look in Device Manager and see if you have any yellow warnings next to the hardware list. It could be this problem is related to your internet connection device. Do you use wireless or an Ethernet cable connection?

thank you so much for your help on this matter when i done a reinstall it was a full one formated the hard drive, i have no yellow makrs when i have Device Manager up im conected to the net by ethernet cable, what i cant understand is that this was fine a week ago now its got me up in the air been to a few shops today who want to charge me £50 an hr to look at it no chance i dont mind paying someone to fix it but not take the mick

OK, lets try something else.

Start Internet Explorer in "No Add-ons" mode

To start Internet Explorer in "No Add-ons" mode, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). See how well that works.

Have you got another PC you can plug your ethernet connection into to test it?

I wish I could earn €50 an hour to work on here, lol. Lets see if we can fix it for free.

thanks

ok mark i will do this on sun as im not bk home till then thank you for all your help have a great weekend

freezing comp

well ive just done a full reinstall again formated drive c and put windows bk on, during the installatonof service pack 2 i could do anything on the comp and whilst it was instaling service pk 3 the comp was fine, but to good to be true arfter all the updates had been done tried to update windows media it frooze, had to re start whole comp,as could do anything,so swicthed comp bk on got internet explore up it was fine for a while could search for things but arfter a little while it stops i have disabled internet add on,s mark but still does the same thing,as for another comp yes i have my laptop which im useing at the mo,im just lost as too what can be casueing this ie software or hardware problem

I think this is most likely to be a hardware issue. First have a very close look at your Ethernet connection and make sure there is no damage to the socket on the PC. A magnifying glass and a torch will help.

What type of hard drive do you have, IDE or SATA?

Have you installed all the chipset drivers after the new OS install?

Try running with just one RAM stick fitted and then swap them around if no change.

Check all the internal connections on the drives and the motherboard.

Download this software to check your CPU temperatures.

http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ Set this up to disply the temps in the taskbar.

Use your laptop to make a diagnostics disc to test the hard drive.

Identify the make of your hard drive and then use one of the links below to get the manufacturers diagnostic for ISO CD. Burn the image file to a CD, boot the PC with the disc in the drive and run the diagnostics. You first need to set the CD drive to 1st in the boot order in the Bios setup.

If you do not have an image burner use this free software to make the CD.
