Windows XP will expire in three days

Need some help.

I have a old DELL D610 laptop which i always keep a cloned HDD for as backup. The other day i put the cloned HDD in the laptop and i got the usual windows activation message. Which you normally call the 0800 number to activate windows using the I.D displayed on this message window.

Well for some ODD reason when i go to activate by telephone there is no I.D displayed on this message window. So i cannot activate windows.

It says it will expire in 3 days.

Tried inputting product key on the sticker from under the laptop and again wont work.

Any ideas how to bypass this?

Easier, with Dell units, to activate online... they detect it is a dell and you are done.

Otherwise, try the Canadian activation number... Those folks are much more helpful and understanding.... sorry I don't have that 800 number handy at the moment... but it is available with some Gurgle searching.

Its sorted now. After numerous days after the latest boot up its decided to pick up a installation ID. Weird as hell
