Among Us is a social deduction party game where teamwork and deception collide. Join 4 – 15 players online or over local Wi-Fi as you prepare your spaceship for launch – but keep your eyes open, because one (or more) of you is secretly an Impostor plotting to take everyone out.
Crewmates win by completing tasks and working together to root out the threat. Impostors win by blending in, sabotaging systems, and eliminating the crew before they're discovered.
Trust no one… and good luck.
How can I catch impostors more reliably?
Pay attention to movement patterns instead of waiting for a kill. Real Crewmates move with purpose toward tasks, while impostors wander, double back, or hover near others. Noticing who enters and leaves rooms can expose lies later during discussions.
What's the best way to survive longer as a Crewmate?
Staying in pairs or small groups dramatically lowers your risk of being targeted. Avoid isolated rooms and high-danger areas like Electrical when alone. Gathering information and noting player locations is often more important than rushing tasks.
How can I fake tasks better as an impostor?
Pick believable tasks with realistic timings. Don't finish a long task instantly, and don't hop to the opposite side of the map without reason. Returning to multi-step task spots later helps you look consistent when questioned.
Is venting always risky?
Venting is safest when paired with a distraction. Triggering lights or reactor before using vents masks your last location and makes pathing harder to track. Use vents for repositioning and alibis, not just escapes.
How do people finish tasks so fast compared to me?
Many players memorize map layouts and task steps, letting them move efficiently. Some lobbies disable visual delays or play on simplified settings, which shortens overall time. Others simply fake tasks as impostors, giving the illusion of faster completion.
Why does the game feel laggy or randomly disconnect me from servers?
Server load, region mismatch, or unstable Wi-Fi are common causes. Selecting the correct server region and using a more reliable connection helps. Occasional spikes also happen during peak play hours or game updates.
Why does Among Us crash or show a black screen on Android?
It usually happens due to low RAM, outdated versions, or beta instability. Clear the app's cache, leave the beta program if you're in it, and reinstall the game to fix it.
What's New
New Roles
Since we introduced the Engineer, Scientist, Guardian Angel, and Shapeshifter back in 2021, new roles has been one of the highest requested additions to the game – and for good reason! Roles introduced a new way to betray and bewilder Crewmates, and more ways to gather evidence against the Impostors.
Soon we'll introduce more brand new roles each with their own little quirk that make for some very interesting lobbies. I can't guarantee they'll help you avoid an untimely ejection but who knows… it's all about how you play!
Better Lobby Filtering
We're improving how you find lobbies through a more refined set of search settings.
Make the Lobby Settings Pretty
Our looooooooong list of settings is getting a facelift. Say hello to snappy menus so you can easily see all the settings you can change as a host, and have a quick view of the important ones as you join lobbies.
Cosmetics and Collabs
Our true calling – Bean fashion. We're cooking up more ways for you to slay while you slay. '...
Y'all know how we get down with the cute, goofy, and chaotic collabs with other studios. We're rolling the dice and hoping to continue blowing your minds this year. No one is safe. (sorry Red)
Quality of Life
Along with the lobby settings and filtering mentioned above, we're sprucing up other items that will make your ears (do Crewmates even have ears?) perk up. We're cooking up other changes too – music for the lobbies (a Puffballs United original of course), Crewmate chatter popping at the top of the screen, and more.
More +
This is where I'm allowed to talk about [REDACTED]. Can't say more than that 'cause we like surprising you!
Wooooooo, that's a lot of stuff! The team is hard at work checking notes and prepping their tasks to make these plans a reality, so don't expect all of these to be completed in the order shown above.
We're excited and can't wait to get these changes into your lovely, non-Impostor-knife-wielding hands.
