Google Play Store for Android TV is the official app marketplace for supported televisions, streaming devices, and set-top boxes running Android TV OS or Google TV. It provides access to apps and games designed for large screens and remote-control navigation.

Use the Play Store to discover streaming services, media players, utilities, games, fitness apps, educational software, and other TV-compatible content. Available apps vary by device, region, Android version, and hardware capabilities.

Although Google TV has a different home-screen experience, it is built on Android TV OS and uses the same underlying app ecosystem. Apps developed and approved for Android TV can also be installed on compatible Google TV devices.

Should You Install the Play Store APK Manually?

The Google Play Store normally comes preinstalled and updates automatically on certified Android TV and Google TV devices. A manual APK installation may be useful when restoring the Play Store, troubleshooting a failed update, or updating a device that has not yet received the latest release.

This APK is intended for compatible Android TV and Google TV hardware. It is not a universal app store for every smart TV and will not add Google Play support to televisions running Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Roku OS, or other unsupported operating systems.

Before installing, verify that the APK version supports your device and Android TV release. Because the Play Store relies on Google Play services and other system components, installing it on an uncertified or unsupported device may not work correctly.
