Two years ago Cooler Master introduced a new full tower case called the HAF 932. HAF stands for High Air Flow, and with three huge 200mm fans pre-installed Cooler Master had found an appropriate name for this newcomer. The HAF combined rugged, industrial style looks with many of the same amenities as some of their high-end cases like the Cosmos, but without the matching high price tag. The HAF became so popular that it spawned a whole new series, with later additions coming in a variety of sizes and colors, like the smaller HAF 922, a 932 AMD Edition, the HAF X, 932 Black and 922 Red.

The latest entry to the HAF line-up is their smallest and most affordable model yet, the mid-tower HAF 912 is already selling for $59.99. Bearing a striking resemblance to the 922, the 912 is only marginally narrower and shorter at 19" x 9" x 19.5". However the 912 deviates from previous HAF models in other ways, such as losing some of the tool-less capabilities, while picking up support for 2.5" drive mounting, a popular option with the recent explosion of SSD use. Air flow is also somewhat reduced, with only two 120mm fans included, rather than the large 200mm ones we've grown used to seeing in the HAF series.

On the HAF 912 only four 5¼" drive bays adorn the front panel rather than the 922's five, while the bottom portion is comprised of open mesh. A raised, vented side panel allows for 120mm or 140mm fan installation, and a similar section resides on the top that can hold either a single 200mm fan or dual 120mm fans. Two USB ports and headphone/microphone audio jacks are placed at the top front for easy access.

Moving around to the rear of the case we find a typical ATX layout with the power supply opening located at the bottom, and a 120mm exhaust fan placed at the top. In between are rubber water cooling grommets and turned at an angle, above the standard seven riser slots, is an eighth slot that can be used for non-plugin devices such as fan controllers, switches or port extensions. The left panel is held on with thumbscrews and standard screws for the opposite side.

The top front has a recessed section handy for placing small, loose objects where they won't roll off. The bottom of the case has four rubber pedestal style feet and a vented section for the power supply. A removable mesh filter is placed over the vent to help keep dust out.

Let's move on to the interior...
