2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E Review

Sure, "palletize" them, then find a poor 3rd-wourld country to dump them in.
Or, you could just read those regulations. That is what they do with it after separation.
Funny, this ugly chunk of metal looks an AWFUL lot like an SUV. So just how is that a "Mustang"?
I love the Mach-E more and more every time I see that this is what people whine about. You all sound like my 5-year-old niece when she thought Sesame Street changed the name of one of her favorite characters :joy:

So if Im reading this right, you are pissed that an SUV looks like an SUV?

I just wanted to mention that for all the reasons I'm waiting for the GT, this one is a biggie. The GT has an actual grill.

You note but do not follow up on the real summary. Here it is:
"Fast and nice to drive. Good range and comfortable. But not at the same time; requiring the driver to continually make a choice. Unlike the F Fueled competition which give all three all of the time. This Mustang is most compromised Mustang of all time - previous Mustangs were straight line speed vs road holding and comfort compromises - this one is and speed/road holding vs no speed/road holding.

Could you elaborate on what you are talking about? My car also has various driving modes (Tour, Sport, Track, Snow/Ice and V-mode, which can be customized.) Each is very noticeable in its own setting parameters. Is that what you mean?

Like I've said in my other posts, Lithium batteries are not going to be around forever; I doubt it's practical to convert roadways to "giant slot car tracks." I don't, however, have a great fortune teller that can accurately predict the future. I am sure you do not either.

However, I think your statement "If it isn't easy, then it's not going to happen" is rather short sighted. Landing several manned missions on the Moon was not easy, however, it happened.

This is a very different world now then it was for the moon landing. For lack of a better way to put it this world has become very lazy. At least in the United States. The phrase Work Ethics is almost non existent any more.

You all are missing the main points, range and recharge time!
Even with a max range of 300 miles and the overnight recharge time it is very impractical.
I travel to Chicago from where I live 2-3 times a month. 180-200 miles one way. This is a day trip. With the Mustang-E it would be a costly overnight trip.
Next I go to Texas 3-4 times a year. Depending on location in Texas this is a full 1 or 2 day dive each way. NOT POSSIBLE with with ANY EV.

Honestly, I would rather take 15 seconds to hook up to a charger port than spend 5-10 minutes in the rain\snow\heat\cold a few time a week. And the time doesn't include if you have to wait in line.

Only if you rented a hotel. The Mach-E would make the trip, and even if not:

"The city of Chicago in Illinois, United States, has 602 public charging station ports (Level 2 and Level 3) within 15km. 86% of the ports are level 2 charging ports and 51% of the ports offer free charges for your electric car."

But why would you not stop to recharge?

Yeah 15 seconds to hook up the charger then hours waiting for it to charge.

yeah I would have to rent a hotel, this increases the cost.
As for charging in Chicago, I have not found a charging station near the spots that I go. (West and far west suburbs) So I make it there, spend all day at the event and then have to find a charging station and wait hours more for a charge to get home.

As for going to Texas, you are missing the point. a 2 day trip in a gas car turns into a week long trip in an EV. Drive 300 miles, stop and charge with an overnight stay since it takes so long to charge. Then once you get out into west Texas there are NO charging stations once you leave the interstate.

Yeah 15 seconds to hook up the charger then hours waiting for it to charge.
While it charges, you just live your life as usual. It even stops when it's done.
yeah I would have to rent a hotel, this increases the cost.
I was being sarcastic. The Mach-E would make the trip.
As for charging in Chicago, I have not found a charging station near the spots that I go.
Then you aren't looking. They are literally everywhere. Everywhere.
If you can't find one, It's because you don't want to.
So I make it there, spend all day at the event and then have to find a charging station and wait hours more for a charge to get home.
Do you never have to get gas to or from those events?
Wow! Just.... Wow! Of all the EV conversations I have had, that right there is the first one that was so uninformed and out of touch that I honestly didn't have a response at first. I guess it was all the laughing.
stop and charge with an overnight stay since it takes so long to charge
So you missed the part about level 2 and level 3 chargers?
Then once you get out into west Texas there are NO charging stations once you leave the interstate.
Again. Are you even looking? Texas has the second most charging stations of all 50 states.

While it charges, you just live your life as usual. It even stops when it's done.
You obviously missed the point. I have to stop to charge, how do I live my life as usual while I am just sitting waiting for it to charge?
I was being sarcastic. The Mach-E would make the trip.
No it would not. Round trip is close to 400 miles. From the article " It can travel between 211 and 305 miles or 340 to 490 kilometers on a single charge." There for a stop to charge would be needed.
Then you aren't looking. They are literally everywhere. Everywhere.
If you can't find one, It's because you don't want to.
The nearest one to my next event in the Chicago area is a mile away. So I should show up at the event, unload my stuff and leave it unattended while I walk back and then repeat this after the event?

My next event it is 11 1/2 miles one way to the nearest charging station.

Do you never have to get gas to or from those events?

Yes I sometimes do need to stop to refuel. It takes all of 10 minutes to pump a full tank. Cant charge in that amount of time.
So you missed the part about level 2 and level 3 chargers?
No I read it, here it is so you can re-read it too. " Most EV buyers will get a level 2 charger at home or will seek one out when on the go. Using one of these will speed things considerably. Expect this method to completely recharge a battery in 14 hours, though Ford also sells a 48-amp Connected Charge Station that will reduce that further down to just about 10 hours. This rate is about 30 miles of range per hour." I am seeing 14 HOURS for level 2 and 10 HOURS for what I am guessing is a level 3.
Again. Are you even looking? Texas has the second most charging stations of all 50 states.
Second most if you stick around major metro areas like Dallas and Houston.
How many do you find around Terlingua Texas?

No it would not. Round trip is close to 400 miles. From the article " It can travel between 211 and 305 miles or 340 to 490 kilometers on a single charge." There for a stop to charge would be needed.
So stop and recharge. Where ever you want to. And plan for a level 3 charger, and it probably wouldn't take much longer than 2 stops for gasoline.
The nearest one to my next event in the Chicago area is a mile away. So I should show up at the event, unload my stuff and leave it unattended while I walk back and then repeat this after the event?
So plan for it. If that is too rough, are you sure you should be making the trip?
It takes all of 10 minutes to pump a full tank. Cant charge in that amount of time.
Are you aware of the level 3 chargers? And Im pretty sure that any EV made in the last 4 years or so will be very close to the 15-20 miles per minute charge rate.
Terlingua Texas
Of course that is true, but are there any cars there even worth more than 10K? EV's will not be an issue there for quite some time. On the other hand, Terlingua? With their population of 108 and among the worst crime rates in the entire country? Talk about cherry-picking.

EXCEPT!

"The city of Terlingua in Texas, United States, has 1 public charging station port (Level 2 and Level 3) within 15km. 100% of the ports are level 2 charging ports and 100% of the ports offer free charges for your electric car."

Obviously not in a POS EV. I am not finding much in the way of Level 3 chargers. BTW It states nowhere in the article actual charge times for level 3.

Not cherry picking, that just happens to be one of my destinations in Texas.

Did you bother to read the comments? "We are a horse back riding Stables We do Not Have a charging station"
But I will look when I am there in November.

Thats my point when I said "And Im pretty sure that any EV made in the last 4 years or so will be very close to the 15-20 miles per minute charge rate."

Oh OK. My condolences. ;)

No need to, it's actually just outside the town limits at Big Bend Stables.
Maybe they use some electric vehicles. Or are planning to. It says right now the 240 source is the Hotel not the stables itself.

Hell, I love to ride, so I may go there after I decide what vehicle I want to get.
