There's just no excuse to buy an Intel CPU, period. None. Anyone who believes otherwise should be declared brain damaged at this point, sorry.
I was explaining why you don't need a new mobo every year still if you buy Intel, because you tried to pass that off as being factually relevant still. Intel went 3 gens on LGA 1700. AM4 had 4 gens and Ryzen 5000 barely made it to the x370 chipset, they didn't even want it on 400 series chipset boards.
Never said AM5 was bad.
Buying a new CPU every year is still silly too, even if they all fit.
if they built 12th gen rigs right now that'd be very cheap and they could still put a used 14th gen in them after a few years if needed for a noticeable and presumably very cheap upgrade.
I like the part where you make fun of them for not shopping around but you already have your purchasing plans laid out for 2027.
But your 5800x 3d launched at 450$, with that kind of moeny I just threw away my b350 and just bought a 12700f and a b660. New mobo with better upgradability and a much faster cpu. Only an ***** would prefer the 5800x 3d.No, you were attempting to explain why (if you buy an iNTEL mobo) that you MUST buy a new MOBO every 2-3 years... along with a new CPU. Specially if you only upgrade your CPU every 2-3 years.
12th-Gen only came out 3 years ago, 13th-gen came out 2 years ago and 14th gen last year...! And LGA1700 is now EOL/moot..!
I agree buying a new CPU every year is NOT a good return on your investment, that is why MOST people wait 2-3+ years to drop in a new CPU... I even waited 6 years to drop in the 5800X 3D.
You are making my point with your posts. And that in REALITY, is that ovr a course of 10 years (2017 ~2027) you would only need 2 AMD mobos... AM4 and AM5. Doesn't matter how many CPUs you want to drop in.
No, you just blatantly lied and tried to pass off that old way of Intel as still being practiced, hasn't been like that for 5 generations now, that was fangirl behavior. Don't forget the list of crippled features you gave yourself by dropping in a $450 CPU into a 6 year old boards chipset. AMD really didn't want those CPUs in those early boards. Hopefully they don't try to do the same thing and the original AM5 chipset is set to go for the rest of eternity like you hope. No, you were attempting to explain why (if you buy an iNTEL mobo) that you MUST buy a new MOBO every 2-3 years... along with a new CPU. It does matter when you don't get the full feature set of your brand new shiny CPU because the board it's being dropped in is 6 years old.
It doesn't matter which board I had, the point is the CPU it self cost 450 - that's as much as a 12700f + a brand new board. Who in their right mind would buy a slower CPU on a dead platform for the same money they can get a new faster CPU on an upgradable platform? LOLNobody cares about your erratically buying habits... or bad decisions. Your strawman arguments are more or less about how YOU don't know how to buy, build or plan for when you upgrade, and complaining about those who do.
Yeah it IS... incredible that you can buy a 5800X 3D and place it in a 6-year old MOBO... That same system (in my simulator) started with a 1080ti GPU and now has a hand-me-down 3080 and will eventually house my aging XTX from my main AM5 rig.
What don't you get...?
Secondly, For someone who claims they own a 12900k, 13900k and a 14900k... why would You (or any gamer) be buying anything but an "X" board..?
A moment ago you openly admitted that you threw away a board, bcz you were not smart enough to have bought an X board. And that is why you are so angry with yourself...
Pro tip:
Buy the best MOBO on said platform, to build your System on... then you have the leisure ovr the next 4-6 years of upgrading component as you see fit.
That is why I (and most Others) are still laughing at those friends who built 12th~14th Gen iNTEL systems, because they are dead in the water, stuck on LGA1700, with no upgrade path... unless They spend another $1k (new mobo+cpu+time) to try and play catch up to the nearly 2 year old AM5 platform.
30 minute upgrades are nice....
Once again... you are not good with your strawman arguments. It doesn't matter which board I had, the point is the CPU it self cost 450 - that's as much as a 12700f + a brand new board. Who in their right mind would buy a slower CPU on a dead platform for the same money they can get a new faster CPU on an upgradable platform? LOL
That's why me and other are laughing at people who build 5800x 3d, they are stuck on a 6 year old out of warranty motherboard with no modern features and a mega slow CPU.
Because the 12700f is a faster CPU, you get a new upgradable platform and a brand new mobo with warranty and lots of features that your old doesn't have. You have to be braindead to go for the 5800x 3d honestly.Once again... you are not good with your strawman arguments.
Can you please quantify why would Someone would want a 12700f ovr a 5800X3D..?
Again... Why would you build a NEW RIG (mobo+cpu) that is slower at gaming than just just dropping in a 5800X3D as an upgrade..?
Specially.. if those People have already owned that AM4 rig for 4~5+ years and upgrading CPU after all these years would be so economical to do so..? All you do is drop in a $329 ($389 when I bought it)... and have yourself a 5800X 3D to extend your system another 2-3 years at Gaming. Even a perfect way to give your old system a big kick, or a reason to hand it down to your kids, as you selfishly build a new AM5 rig...
Coincidentally, If you are/have been building a rig (at any time) in the last 2 years, & you didn't choose AM5... then you are one of the ones who got burnt hard on iNTEL's marketing.
Because the 12700f is a faster CPU, you get a new upgradable platform and a brand new mobo with warranty and lots of features that your old doesn't have. You have to be braindead to go for the 5800x 3d honestly.
What cheaply are you talking about? The 5800x 3d cost 450$ when I bought the 12700f + the mobo for 470. How is that cheaply? LOL manThat is not an argument^, that is a bad buying decision for a PC Gaming System. You are so irrational and the exact type of person who fell for iNTEL's marketing.
Nobody, (as in, no one person on the planet) but a die-hard iNTEL fan would $pend & build a whole new system, BECAUSE of Warranty... instead of simply extending their current gaming system by another 2-3 years, by simply upgrading their aging system cheaply with a X3D chip.
Even the $249 5600X3D kick azz today.... and faster at gaming.
I think you are just mad you built a LGA1700 system instead of an AM5 system and now you realize you are stuck. I think you are second-guessing of instead of building a AM5 rig that year, you opted to buy an already outdated LGA1700 board with a 12700f... when a few days ago it was you saying you had a 12900k.
Nothin you say is logical, you spend money frivolously. Not my fault.
What cheaply are you talking about? The 5800x 3d cost 450$ when I bought the 12700f + the mobo for 470. How is that cheaply? LOL man
No, your point is illogical. All I'm saying is longevity of a platform is uselses when the CPUs for that platform are super expensive, like the 5800x 3d. For the cost of the CPU I bought a faster CPU and a new platform that could be upgraded. Can't get any simpler than that man.And..?
What does that have to do with AM4's longevity..?
Also, what you've have stated is so illogical, bcz you claim You built your new system in 2022 bcz of "Warranty & Features" kinda falls apart, when AMD's AM5 platform was released the same year and has PCIe5.0, etc..
So, nobody believes your Posts when you own criteria defeats you.
ie: Your bias is showing
And what’s even funnier is that in just a few months Intel will be the cool and efficient again with Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake while AMD will become the power hungry one again.Even funnier is that 10 years before that it was Intel (Pentium 4) being power hungry and AMD (Athlon 64) was cool and efficient. It's like they just leapfrog each other.
Ones power efficient Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake releases within the next few months would you call for banning AMD for becoming the power hungry one?Intel should be banned for wasting so much energy.

Arrow Lake will still be more power hungry than Zen4 or even Zen5. Lower does not equal low.Ones power efficient Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake releases within the next few months would you call for banning AMD for becoming the power hungry one?
I predict the 15700k or whatever it's called is going to be a lot faster than it's competitor, the 9700x at ISO power. Like, a TON more. Efficiency isn't amds strong point man.Arrow Lake will still be more power hungry than Zen4 or even Zen5. Lower does not equal low.
