BSOD when trying to install Windows XP Pro, error 0x7E

My computer started to run slowly and the BSOD would appear every once in a while when I booted it up, so I decided to reinstall Windows. I inserted my Windows XP Pro setup disc, restarted the computer, and chose to boot it from the CD. Everything runs fine and it would load up all the files. Then when it's done load the files, it would say "Setup is starting Windows." Immediately after that I get a BSOD, so I thought there wasn't enough free space on the hard drive. I had already backed up my files so I used WipeDrive and cleared everything from the hard drive. But I would still get the BSOD.

Here's what it says:
STOP: 0x0000007E (0xc0000005, 0xF748E0BF, 0xF78DA208, 0xF78D9F08)

pci.sys - Addresss F748E0BF base at F7487000, Datestamp 3B7D855c

So now I'm stuck with a computer without an OS and can't install Windows. Please help me and can you speak in a way that I can understand? I know a little about computers, but not that much.
