iron, you can don't believe me, i don't care. i think that i'll help some people on this forum. and stil: if your laptop with password, and you can't
"short it", try to replace the SMSC controller. do something yourself, don't wait help, especially for free(because, again: password theme is a taboo theme. i don't want to spill my hardworking knowledge for free, because it's really hard to digging in binary code). as i see most af people in this thread only can cry about theirs laptops that locked. i can propose you just think what you can to do. i said enough of information, to DIY.

My wife know that i have a single password for all accounts, mail mess... (not a good ideea, but that it is). Not for this laptop.
And she try many times.... So now i have a very nice and expensive doorstop.

can any1 confirm this is the chip? if so i will get pics up asap ive searched what i found on the chip and i came back with : SST’s 25 series Serial Flash family features a four-wire, SPI-compatible interface that allows for a low pin-count package which occupies less board space and ultimately lowers total system costs. The SST25VF080B devices are enhanced with improved operating frequency and even lower power consumption than the original SST25VFxxxA devices. SST25VF080B SPI serial flash memories are manufactured with SST’s proprietary, high-performance CMOS SuperFlash technology. The split-gate cell design and thick-oxide tunneling injector attain better reliability and manufacturability compared with alternate approaches. zerox666, if the password is stored into bios chip it will be too easy to remove it, simply reflash bios chip using external programmer. but the situation isn't looking so good. the master password gen module stored into bios binary,yes,it's true, but, some parts of this module are stored into SMSC controller.

Lamo, my english it's not so good but I'll try to explain my self.
My doubt is, do you know how this whole thing works. I know the BIOS start the system and this little piece of soft is inside the SPI serial flash the problem (in this case) is I don't know what is the function of or what is this "SMSC controller". If you know about what you are talking about I ask you to explain me and the rest interested in this matters who does this works.

zerox666, actually, in laptops the bios aren't starts the system. when you connect the AC/DC adapter to laptop, first, PWM controllers runs 5v SB voltage(in some systems there are both 5v and 3.3v). these 5v or 3.3v lead right to EC/KBC controller. this controller is RISC processor with own RAM and ROM. controller detects the bios chip presense and, if you press power button, it begins to read the boot-block of BIOS image which stored in bios chip. after reading the boot-block module,the boot-block program unpacks itself to the main memory and then the POST begins.
this process,i've described is simplified. of course there are many fine points in many laptops models.
as for dell, you can try to find the SCA and SDL pins, then, built your own i2c reader for such SMSC KBC controller. then read KBC flash, analyze it's structure... and then post here your results.
