I previously bought a Gigabyte Technology 2004 RZ series motherboard (7VT600P-RZ (-c) VIA KT600 Chipset) It says it supported athlon xp 1.4 ghz +
Now I bought an AMD Athlon XP 2700 and when i put it in.... my computer says its only producing 1.31 ghz speed... at first i thought it was cause they sent me the wrong chip... so i returned it and a week later, the new chip they sent me it still shows up the same. Even my old 1.6 ghz chip shows that its 1.31. Please help me! If it would help, i have 350 watt PSU and a radeon 9600 XT vid card. Thank you in advance

Check in you mobo manual.

You need to set the fsb jumper(JP1) on the mobo to the auto position. You can do this by removing the jumper cap altogether.

After you have done this, your cpu will run at the correct speed.

Regards Howard :) :)

If it turns out that the jumper on your mobo is already set correctly. Go into your bios, and set the fsb speed to 166mhz.

Regards Howard :)

Thank you thank you soo much XDDD
I didn't know anything about jumpers until you told me. As you can see I'm noob at this ^^;;. Thank you so much
