Whilst holding in the ON button of the powered Laptop
AND shorting the pins at the same time

The laptop will turn on and show the Fn-X or F2 Prompt screen

You can now remove the paperclip

All done!

Hard disk drive passwords are not cleared or removed by this procedure.

Thanks !

How do i known if it is a harddisk password?

When i short these 2 pins the laptop wont start up. It blinks for a second and after this it turns off again.
Maybe i have the wrong chip? is there another one on the c800 ?

I really should have stated that I learnt the above in the last 10mins
I don't know anything else !

Just short the pins, then turn it on. (at the same time) That's all I know

I would like to know if it works

The shorting method did not work for me.
mhh yea maybe its a harddisk lock. ill check.

Edit: well since there is no harddrive in it there cannot be a harddrive lock? am i correct?

Also make sure you are looking at the chip (and more importantly the pins) the right way up.

Please continue to inform of this progress

Nop still not working.
Really weird...

Remove the power adaptor
Then hold down the ON button (no short at this point) To disperse all internal voltage

Then short the pins and plug in the power adaptor again (by the way the battery is out all the time in doing all this)
And then turn On

If that doesn't work, well that's it
There are others here with lots more experience (ie done it many times) It would be nice if they replied, sometime with free info. But I'll learn as I go I suppose.
