Hello Guys! I can´t belive that the Shorting procedure will work, even that I could do it by myself with a few directions and the firm idea to make it work like the others do. In my case: (Dell Latitude D600) the chipset to find is different to the mentioned in the beginning of this long post. Some say that the chipset is the number 24C02, but in this particular case the chipset to find is the 24C04N (You can find it removing the PCMCIA aluminium case and remove the thin plastic cover that separate them, remember the PCMCIA slot is where you plug-in the wireless card or firewire card , etc) Then, when you find it...remember the model of the chipset! put your computer in the position that you can read perfect the brand and the model of the chipset, and here is where the tough part begin, because you have to make yourself with the famous PAPERRRRR CLIP !!! and try to create an order of numbers for each small legs of the chipset...for example, if you imagine every leg of the chipset from left to right and from up to down the numbers of legs to put in short circuit must be the #3 and the #7, but for some reason I have read that the order is from right to left and from up to down, where the legs to identify to put it in short circuit will be the #2 and the #6. Hope make me understand, let´s continue with the next step: If u create a bridge between this 2 legs and try to power on the notebook you will notice that the unit don´t turn on, but if you separate one of the contacts the systems start to charge, in that moment put again the contact back and see the system turn off again, do this for 1 or 2 times more, remove the paper clip and turn on your laptop and wait to see a message that indicate the system is in factory mode, Now U have your laptop free and ready to be set with the correct parameters to put it back on the road!!! I hope you can understand me, because my mother languague is the Spanish (Im from Costa Rica), In case that you may need some help, just contact me sending a Private Message and I´ll try to do my best to help you!!! Good Bless You All.
