Is there anyway to bypass the password on an Acomdata ext. hard drive?

Apple helpdesk reinstalled operating system on my Mac. When I plugged in the ext. hard drive (model PDHD1000LISE-72) that I had been using for 9 years it asked for a password which I no longer have. There is stuff on this hard drive that is vitally important.

Is there any way to gain access without the password?

You need to go back to apple helpdesk and tell them to undo the password they put on it by accident.
