LG 27GL850 Review: Fast IPS for Gaming

Correct, nothing I said was about you.
I was speaking about myself & others. The people who have been waiting 20 years for a CRT alternative. The same people who have been gaming adnauseam on 27" for nearly 2 decades.

Odd... that we have 55" OLEDs TV's for $1600 and yet no 32" gaming monitors for $1600..? Does that boggle you..?

Yet we are suppose to get excited over a hashed out-go-nowhere technology in the LG 27". My expectation is for these companies need to have a Flagship Monitor. Not peddle in 27" nothing burgers. Nobody is keeping their brand new 27" for long, cuz oled inc.

I see nothing wrong with this LG 27", it is a good Monitor and and a decent buy, but we have not come far in 3+ years from the 34" LG that was 100Hz IPS.

Gd you're still going kn about screen sizes? It's a ratio m8. There's a reason screens don't just get bigger and bigger every year, the ratio doesn't change. No matter how much you brag nobody cares and neither does the ratio.

If you buy a bigger monitor you're FORCED to sit further away from your desk to fit within the ratio. It's not status or luxury. Jfc..

Im looking at buying a 27" 2560x1440 144hz+ Ips g-sync panel.
I dont know which to choose between these 3.
I can currently get them all at the same price on sale threw different vendors at around $750 AUD.
Which is why picking one is making my choice difficult normally just get the cheapest but being the same price has me stumped
1: Acer Predator XB271HU
2: Asus ROG Swift PG279QE
3: LG UltraGear 27GL850
What would you recommend out of these 3 monitors & why? brand names and pricing aside!

WHat..?

If you want to game on a 27" 1080p monitor your whole life, OK. But I want higher res and larger. That is what everybody who has been waiting for years and years and years and years and years...

It is not about ratio, it is about resolution.

Yeah I don't think you'll ever get it.

Is has nothing to do with ratio, you adjust that to the sreensize you want.. Bigger monitor sits farther away. DERP!

Let me guess, once 4k comes out, you still want 4k @ 27"... and when 8k comes out, you still want it on 27"... lol...

27" is for little kids and their 1080p resolution.

Uhhh... that is the definition of maintaining the ratio...

32in 4k and want to sit further is no different than 27in 4k and sitting a bit closer.

you could use a monitor arm with 27in and sit further but bring the screen closer with the arm and still have the effect

It is not the same effect. That is what you do not understand. It might be the SAME RATIO, but not the same viewing experience, as the person with 32" 4k has MORE ROOM as a desktop... to have MORE WINDOWS, MORE APPS, etc.

27" is for people stuck on 1080p... which I have not used in nearly 15 years.

So you say u have more space on 32 4 k than 27 4k.....it doesn't make any sense. Except bigger icons...

I'm 40 and I would love to see 30 inch 4k screen
27 is decent at 1440p resolution
1080 on 27 is fail
I did have time with 32 inch on my desk but it's just too big .you got to turn yr head around for basic functions
I do understand yr concept to sit farther away from screen but I don't use pads to play games.your sight matters too
For me 27 at 1440p is lesser evil than 32 4k
I did have 34 ultrawide but the amount of light shooting into yr eyes is just too much to bear if you set 2-3ft away
I could mount it on wall but hight adjustment is way better than adjusting yr body to monitor....

You gain nothing from going from a 27" 1440p, to a 27" 4k. What would be the point of that upgrade..?

And yes, 32" 4k monitors are the new norm.
