Monitor Problem

I instaled a ati hd3450 videocard,all is fine for now but my monitor wont display anything it is allways with no signal .the switch light on the monitor wont go off even if i shut down windows .today i tried to plug the tv (sony bravia) into the videocard and to my surprise it worked ,i can see on the tv .can someone help me with the monitor so i can i see on the monitor too ? what can be the problem ?
