Problem after repairing Windows XP

Hi!
I am using windows XP SP-2. Recently it got corrupted and I repaired it and got the things intact. However, there is one problem. Previously, before the problem, I had placed desktop on my taskbar and it worked well. But after repairing, when I put the desktop on taskbar, I see only icons and not their name and that also don't work properly. Even in quick launch option on taskbar, when i put the shortcuts for the softwares, I see only icons and not their names and there is blank space in front of the icons, where previously there used to be the name of the software.
Pls can anyone help me in setting the things back to normal?

No. When I placed desktop on taskbar, there was arrow like >> clkiking on whichj it used to show the C: and d: drive aswell as other shortcuts on desktop but now there is nothing like this.

Try this

You seem familiar with adding this to Toolbars.>> But you don't
expand the Icons or folders.Do you use 1 left click to expand ?
Right click Taskbar and check
Lock the Taskbar.
