problems with some games

i have medieal total war 2, and counter strike the last one.
and it freeze almos all the time i cant play it regularly.
i have 1gb ddr2, its a dell 3100.,
i have all the requirements for the game, i dont know why this happens

Could there be something wrong with your OS installation or settings?
I remember I used to get such problems with games because I once installed windows XP on FAT32..

Since the same Dell model can have different configurations, what are yours exactly? The reason I ask is your PC might not meet the minimum game requirements despite your statement that it does. For example, the basic Dell 3100 comes with integrated graphics. If you are using Intel integrated graphics, it likely does not support DirectX 9.0c even though you installed it. It also may not support Transform and Lighting which most newer games require even though they don't always say so on the box.
