So you only have PCI slots and want to game?

glad to see you finally converted to pci-e, I just got my new rig with a pci-e card and its pretty amazing what 800$(total cost of rig) can get you. Pci is only good for none gamers or low end games. I dont miss my pci nvidia 6200 one bit, I passed it down to my brother until he gets his rig up n runnin again.

You built it or bought a pre-built?
Those are some nice specs and glad you are having fun :)
Yea i agree pci is only perfect with older games. I am keeping my pci cards for backups tho.

Well i am buying my second pcie today. Most likely a 4650, might see one with the ddr3 memory.
I might buy a 4670, but not sure if 250 watts Is enough. Anyways, i will let you guys know what i pick up later.

if you would spend the money you waste on these low end cards and just buy like an ati 4870 and a 450 watt decent power supply you would have a far greater experience with games and trust me its a trillion times better than a 9500 gt

Just bought a Sapphire 4670 1GB GDDR3 card for 70 dollars. Going to try it out very soon.

Klepto12 With my Galaxy 9500GT 1GB DDR2 card i can play pretty much any game at max settings at 1280x1024 and still get between 30-60 and more frames, so your view of a greater experience, well i don't need to see 300 frames in every game dude, calm down.
Now that i have a 4670, should be even better.
Anyways, peace

lol get with the times noone plays at 1280x1024 anymore i mean damn you still using a crt monitor seriously get a 22 inch or bigger wide screen and your little 9500 is nothing.

Actually i plan to use CRT's forever, or until they are officially non exisited on earth. But i always just pick one up at the pawn shop for 15 dollars. Nothing wrong with playing at 1280x1024, its a resolution i enjoy playing. As for my 9500gt , its a great card, right now i am using my 4670, it seems to be about 30% faster in gaming. So i have 2 great cards and gaming is wonderful :)

Just my views tho, but i think we should stop talking about PCIE in a pci thread.
I suggest everyone to just buy a 9500gt pci if they choose to continue to use PCI tho, or just get a 9400gt or save up and buy pcie.

Peace

said by a true tech noob well have fun with that oh so awesome 9500 lol

Well folks, i guess i won't be posting in this thread as much since i got my 4670 and 9500gt. But i will keep pci cards updated if i come across any new ones. I was looking around for the 8600gt pci card when i went to the computer show last week, but it wasn't there. I would of bought it tho, for collection, because the design on it , is rare and looks amazing.

Anyways, cheers.

Who knows, maybe someday it will be valued as a collectors item, even though from a functional standpoint it will be useless.

Everyone is glad to see you quit using PCI though, I am sure of that.

All the PCI faithful users have graduated onwards, mainly Tha General. I would be happy to answer questions for others though.

I'm still here, wonder what is the best pci card that stays cool. As in low heat not the best to look at.

:D

I will progress to PCI Express x1, if they sell any in shops near me.

I still check around to see any new pci cards, only found those lame 4350's by powercolor. And i still will buy the Alabtron 8600gt if i can find it, but i can't, not even at the market show.

Anyways, yea i am enjoying my Sapphire 4670 and 9500gt. I do plan to get rid of the 9500gt tho ( to a friend along with my single core ) and buy the Sparkle GT220 GDDR3 card later this month.

AY! My 18.1" Dell UltraSharp is 1280x1024 :p and its one of the best monitors I had

GT 220 is an improvement from 9500GT but 9800GT low power version is what you should really get I recommend.

I still use a CRT 1280x1024, hope to get a 16:10 LCD 1080P monitor someday with my i7 930 build.

Hey guys this is off-topic, but this is my youtube channel

Thus buying a dual core very soon.

Well i am just replacing my 9500gt, the gt220 is the gddr3 by sparkle btw . The 9800gt i am buying for my quad core later this year.

I was thinking about buying a lcd, pawn shops sells them for only 30 bucks. I may get one and try it out when i get my dual core soon.

electromagnetic Is it possible your card is dying?
Artifacts from what i understand had in the past, is not the cause from pci cards, well the 6200 OC from bfg had issues running timeshift. But changing drivers may help or changing the OS.

I get horrible artifacts with my 4670 in SOF3 using XP, but using win 7 the problem goes away.

Why did you decide on the 220GT General? If you're gonna spend the money why not step up to the 260GTX so you at least get the nvidia 216 core rather than a rehash of one of the older cards in the lineup? If you want to stay with the older stuff then I'd do as Teklord suggested and get a low power 9800GT. Since you don't overclock I think it would suit you well. It doesn't use any extra PCI-E power connections, just runs right off of the slot. Here is the one in my rig at the moment http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500115 It's not the fastest thing in the world but it's playing every game I have right now at fairly high settings. The price is also right in line with what you'd pay for the 220.

Yes i bought the GT220 last night for 95 bucks from best buy. And i already said many many times that i do not buy cards that require power connectors, so the 260GTX will never happen. Another thing, i already said a million times that i am buying a 9800gt for my secondary rig the Quad Core system. The GT220 was the best choice IMO, all i was doing was replacing my 9500gt, thats all.

peace

...Another thing, i already said a million times that i am buying a 9800gt for my secondary rig the Quad Core system.

Thing of it is that IMO the GT 220 is not worth paying $100 dollars for when it is just barely an improvement over the 9500GT and you may not be able to see any difference anyways with your single core CPU. I would have gotten the 9800GT low power version since you don't use power connectors and used that until you got your next prebuilt and kept the 9500GT. :approve:

If you are getting artifacts in games then you need to tune down the settings of your GPU from the OC it is in. If it is already at stock settings, then the card is probably about to completely die.

I see about 15% increase in performance over the 9500GT, so i am happy i bought it to replace the 9500gt. The 9800gt, i am buying first week of Dec, it will be use for the Quad core system which i am buying last week of Dec.

The 9800gt i am buying is this one:

Its only 89 dollars. Or i may get the Sparkle version. But i should have it soon. The Radeon card i am buying for my Quad system is going to be one of the soon to be release 5000 series cards, i think its the 5760 or something.

Only game i get Artifacts in, is SOF3. Only in XP using my 4670 tho.
