This month's Windows 11 update broke the Recycle Bin, OneDrive, and possibly your PC's stability

This month?
I had a problem with updates for the last 8 months.
Each time it tried to update, I would end up looking
for ways to fix boot. 4 freaking times. I have pretty popular
new hardware. This is unforgivable.
The worst was that it would try to do it at night.
I would come to PC unaware that it cannot boot
trying to use it. And finding joy of fixing OS rather
than using it.

They make me so angry. I hope Microsoft burns to the ground.
I hope not since most of the worlds computers run on MS. That wouldnt be very good overall. May not like them but damn, the world would be in very bad shape if they would collapse or anything. World just simply isnt ready for anything like that to happen.

Yeah, good point.

Hence, why I wrote this in my post:

So you set a reminder to yourself for 4 weeks and 6 days to delay another 5 weeks. Lather, rinse, repeat.
So you are saying I have to constantly babysit Microsoft updates based on the rate they deploy them???

No thank you...

that's a never winning battle, but what you should be doing and everyone else like you using that terrible method is to be vocal online about how dissatisfied you are with Windows Updates in hopes Microsoft can changes things around instead of embracing the issue with temporary efforts.

I didn't say it's an ideal solution, but it works. You stated that there is no way to permanently stop updates; I simply provided a workaround. And I wouldn't define having to click the delay updates button once every 5 weeks as "constantly" babysitting. But I don't get outraged over minor, occasional upkeeps. Also, I doubt MS is ever going to offer an easy option that would seriously compromise system security.

If you really think it's a good idea to stop all updates (many of which are for antivirus) then here's your permanent solution: simply go into Services and disable Windows Update. Problem solved. But if you get a virus or malware as a result of your Windows Defender being out of date, that's on you.

Still using an old version of Windows 10 here, now I feel like I'm the only sane PC user that's still around :-D

Of course everything works just fine and I regularly update other stuff like Firefox, otherwise I would have been forced to upgrade to Winslop 11 as well...

Yep, I am too - and there's absolutely zero reason to ever upgrade it. Even my Win7 computer is better off without 11.

Sometimes I run into people who tell me I'm dumb because I refuse to upgrade my Win10 boxes to Win11.

Always puts a smile on my face.

I bought a boxed copy of Windows 7 on Amazon for about $80 in 2009 for a single CPU Xeon X5650 workstation. Then I was able to use it again on an i9-10900K system for a Windows 10 install that is fortunately my daily driver PC. I see no reason to ever use Windows 11 right now and plan to avoid it as long as possible.
