What does your desktop look like?

Well I'm changing things up again, this time on my laptop computer. I've been putsing around this morning with a photo editing and image manager program called (Inkscape Vector Graphics Editor). I was just wanting to see if it was equally as easy with Inkscape to create custom wallpapers as it was with my old Adobe Photoshop 7.0, a bit more tricky and harder than Photoshop, this will take some getting used to. But I was able to complete one little task, this new desktop look won't be around long, this was just a trial run, hopefully towards something much better and greater.

Here it is..............

Not anything fancy or special, but I think for a first attempt with a new program, it is a step in the right direction!

Enjoy...........

InkScape is great and all, but if you're looking for something similar to Photoshop why didn't you just use GIMP?

I just checked out my image program options through the "Applications" menu and didn't see any "Gimp", might have to track that one down inside the Ubuntu Software Center! Inkscape got the job done, but not to my satisfaction, easier would be better right about now!

On my way to go look for that "Gimp" thing.......

Thanks for the recommendation....

Got another new one, it was created last night! This was created to pay my respects to the now "canceled" NASA Space Shuttle program. To honor the program and in my own little non important way to pay tribute to it, I crafted up this nice memorial to some of the fallen on my desktop.

This is dedicated to the Space Shuttle Columbia and it's crew, who on February-1-2003 died as the shuttle re-entered the Earths atmosphere and over the sky's of Texas the shuttle broke apart, taking the crew with it.

here it is, all the patches on the wallpaper are strictly Columbia Program patches, from the first mission on April-12-1981 to it's final patch, being held by a crew member for a missions photo.

After this one stays for a while and I get tired of it, next will come a wallpaper memorial to the Space Shuttle Challenger and it's crew!

"Hope you all like it"!

Here's mine, at 25% as its rather large at full size!

Full size is here. Warning, 5.0MB, 3600x1080. ;)

Linux running the new Gnome 3, looking rather slick I might add! :)

Honestly, I don't know how long this new desktop scene is going to last, but it's appears that it came to life, via my new founded obsession with my Playstation 2 system. This desktop could be part "gag" and part "serious" which one it is, I can't tell yet. But here it is, to be frank here, i don't think this desktop looks that bad, Ubuntu 10.10 really does a good job adding to the wallpaper, to give it a nice look.....

This shot is a little off by size, this one is on my laptop at a screen resolution of 1400x900!

Enjoy..... :)

Awesome, thanks.

I understand your current passion but that background is ... shall we say somewhat unique :)

Are we politely saying that the background on that wallpaper is a real "gender bender"? I think I'm going to dig for a more "manly" or "more masculine" PS2 oriented wallpaper! :)

I don't mind saying it.... Its pants! :haha:

I saw it and thought OMFG.... :haha:

But I like you as you use Linux... Even if it is Ubuntu, and has a Mac4Lin/Macbuntu package installed. ;)

I find sites are limited when your hunting out wallpapers that look OK 3600x1080. :(

Well, I didn't quite find anything that I liked, as far as something being PS2 oriented. But I did find something kind of nice, it's strictly PS1 oriented, and I think it might be better than that "gender bender" shot earlier.

Looks much better, less stressful of the eye's, all that good stuff.

It just isn't right dude... I hate naked birds on my desktop, but given those or that, I'd have the naked bird... Sorry but its just not my thing.... :haha:

Might want to keep that to yourself....for future reference :haha:

Well you started it! :haha:

Got another one, made this one up late last night on my in-home server. Kind of nice, doesn't have much glare which is especially helpful during the night or a dark room. Tried my best to match up the Ubuntu taskbar, wallpaper and mouse pointer. Plus some other various tweaks inside the Ubuntu theme manager, icons and such....

Screen Resolution = 1024 x 768

Enjoy.... :)
