hi everyone
i havnt been here in a while
but i would like some advice on wifi ip cameras

im thinking of setting one up for remote viewing while away from home

how secure are they in terms of anyone being able to view the camera

ive never set one up before

can they be set-up with password security etc

ive read that i will prob need to set-up a DNS acc etc to be able to access my router and camera from the net

as i understand (please correct me if wrong) i will then be accessing my camera through somones elses server how vunerable are these to being hacked as i dont want every tom **** or harry being able to view my camera

please give me some advice subject

thanks in advance keith

I have a D-link DCS-920, wireless is disabled as I have it wired to an ethernet switch.
If you were to set it up wireless, you can control the encryption the same as a wireless PC, (wep, wpa-psk, etc.) that being said, yes you would set it up with password protection.

I beleive that would also required

a) enable Print/File Sharing
b) port forward 139,445 from the router to you system

the two together is a MAJOR security risk
