Win xp is tko'd after power loss

I had a power loss in my apartment and now the computer will not boot in any mode. not safe, not normal windows..... nothing. it will make it to the screen it where it says it was not shut down properly and then just reboot. i tried to repair using a windows xp disk and got a blue screen of death. can my HD be toast after this? i don't see the difference between this power bump and a hard reboot. the computer was shut off in a hurry and thats it. please let me know if there is anything else that i can try before getting another HD.

If you can't do a repair, try to for a format/reinstallation. If you need to get some data off the hard drive before that, try getting an external USB enclosure for the drive & do a backup on another computer.
