Or rather, my boss's computer. Windows XP Pro. The first time I encountered yourprivacyguard, I ended up reinstalling Windows XP. However, this time it is only to be used as a last resort. Could I have

1) Basic information on this bugger (is it spyware, malware, adware, a backdoor etc)
2) Info on how to remove it, preferably wihout reformatting/reinstalling windows.

please? Also, on another note, I currently use avast! antivirus, comodo firewall and Spybot S&D on my home computer. Is there anything I should install or remove to make my computer more secure?

Thanks in advance,
Rahman.

For your bosses pc, only a set of logs will show the extent of the infection, you should run through the instructions below.

You need to have a read of this - If your system is infected. Read this before deciding whether to CLEAN or REFORMAT.

Then if you should wish to proceed with cleaning your system you need to go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT, Combofix, and AVG Antispyware logs as ATTACHMENTS into this thread, only after doing the above.
We also need to know the result of Panda Antirootkit.

With regards to your own pc, perhaps a phishing filter would be a good edition. I use Mcaffee site advisor and rely on it.
